COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Authentic wheat beer, brewed in the Southern German tradition, won the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal at the 2000 in GABF.. Penn Weizen is top-fermented, cask-conditioned, and very effervescent with a slight hint of tangy clove flavor.

bottled, many thanks to pjk33. pale yellow and a bit hazy from being lugged around. big banana yeast aroma. delicate texture and some delicious meringue and lemon cheesecake flavours. i dunno how these guys get it so right when most american brewers get hefeweizens so wrong

Smells like yeast and lemons - tastes like bananas and band-aids - not much else to say.

(Bottle, Arena’s Deli & Beach Bar, Rehoboth Beach, DE) Pours a lightly cloudy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of orange (tart). Flavor is almost gueze like, rather than a hefeweizen; quite tart, but not spoiled tasting.

Slightly hazy golden body with big off-white foam that disappears quickly. Aroma is medium sweet, clove and wheat. Taste is older bananas up front, turning wheat and clove before lemon tart. Light body, fairly crisp, with good carbonation.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Smells of citrus cleaner and vanilla. Tastes of bananas, oranges and some tangy malt.

I do not think this would pass the purity laws for this style. Tastes like it had alot of adjuncts, much darker in character thatn I would expect, and the taste is quite sweet. Way to doughy tasting, and not true to style.
