COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Authentic wheat beer, brewed in the Southern German tradition, won the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal at the 2000 in GABF.. Penn Weizen is top-fermented, cask-conditioned, and very effervescent with a slight hint of tangy clove flavor.

12oz bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a white head. Sweet citrus, banana, clove. Crisp and refreshing. Not all that exciting but a pretty solid example of the style.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Cloudy orange color with a nice big creamy white head. Aroma of banana, wheat, a bit of bubblegum and some clove notes. Sweetish fruity flavor with wheat, light grainy notes, and a finish with light bitterness-sourness. Medium-bodied. A decent refreshing Weizen.

5/2/11. 12oz bottle courtesy Cavie! Cloudy orange pour with yeasty slop on the bottom of the glass and a big off-white head that fades to a ring fast. Soft wheat aroma cuts slightly through big banana and clove. Sweet banana flavor with lots of clove and a lingering bitter kick. High, burning carbonation.

Hazy orange-yellow, white foam. Aroma is expected clove, some banana, fruitiness. Taste is nice, refreshing, banana/clove mix, citrusy, good wheat body.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a nice white head in the weizen glass. However, not too much retention as it fades quickly. Nose is light citrus and clove with a bit of grain. The taste has the grain really take over and not much of the yeast comes through. Feel is light. Not too drinkable as the notes from the nose really don’t come through and this is quite ordinary. Fairly nice flavors here, a bit of sweetness, some tartness, a bit of spice. But it’s way over-carbonated (I know this is true to style to some extent, but it’s more cola than beer) and kind of thin. OK.

Cloudy yellow-orange. Big chunks of yeast sediment poured from the bottle and settled on the bottom. Aroma is yeasty bananas with a touch of Bandaid. Head settled to 1/4" quickly. Beer looks like a slightly more orange version of a Belgian wit. Initial flavor is pretty reminiscent of a nice hefeweizen, though mouthfeel is a little chalkier and taste is a bit spicier. Overall a fine, non-offensive beer, but I was disappointed by the appearance (head is gone in about a minute).
