COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Authentic wheat beer, brewed in the Southern German tradition, won the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal at the 2000 in GABF.. Penn Weizen is top-fermented, cask-conditioned, and very effervescent with a slight hint of tangy clove flavor.

Really good overall. Everything meshes really well. Good clove and banana smell and taste. Could drink these all night, but I had other beer to drink. Carbonation is high and very crisp. Nothing out of the ordinary, but everything is fine the way it is. Perfect for a session. 3.5 A 3.5 S 4.0 T 4.0 M 4.0 D Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 03-21-2009 01:41:40

Nice mixture of fruits and spices. Pours a very clear, bright golden color with a huge head. Mildy tart and quite sweet.

Bottle. Lightly clouded dark amber, almost no head. Aroma of yeast overlying soft banana. Flavour of banana and light orangey citrus. Notes of light yeast. Creamy body.

Pours hazy bright gold with a sizeable head that dissipates to a wisp within a couple minutes. Smells of lemons and strongly of clove, underpinned with a grainy wheat aroma. Taste is very much like the smell, grainy, almost sour, wheat malt followed by some lemony flavors and finishes with a fresh cloves. Light bodied with a slightly sticky aftertaste. Smooth and tasty. Not a top notch hefe but it’s pretty damn good. Grab one.

12oz Bottle. Archtypical clove and banana bomb, even from the nose heavy with bread, walnuts, and a bit more spice. Pleasant. Pours a murky and deeply clouded pale golden orange. The flavor is brimming with wheaty delight and juicy yeast character. It bites the tongue a little and leaves a kiss of mandarin orange behind. Wow. This is a really rockin hefe. Wonderfully balanced crisp, yet fulfilling body, tons of flavor and character. Maybe a nip sweet, if anything, but a really fantastic example of the style.

Bottle pour. A little lackluster from at the start. Pours a light gold with only mild haziness. Barely any head. Nice clove, wheat and yeast aroma, which gives way to a pleasant, fruity flavor. Light bread hints and some sweet and tangy characteristics. Nice, medium bodied and well carbonated. This hefe builds to a decent finish, but nowhere near what I would like to experience.
