Draft at Wildside BBQ. Pours a cloudy, glowing orange-amber body with a large, foamy, snow-white head. The head shows excellent retention and leaves nice, random snakes of lacing behind on the glass. Aromas include banana, orange, bready yeast, and coriander. The flavor follows suit exactly, though the citrus sweetness is kicked up a few notches. The body is on the lighter side of medium, with a somewhat sticky, syrupy consistency. Goes down smooth, but sits a little heavy due to the sweetness. Pretty straightforward, decent-at-best brew. Nothing special here.

Bottle; poured a clear gold with only a small head. Aroma of banana, spice and yeast. Flavor was not as good as the aroma. Alot of wheat, not much banana or spice. Poor palate. Maybe I should have had this when it was warmer out; however, I was still disappointed overall with it.

I picked up some of this when I was in West Virginia and was trying to find something different to try... Cloudy; deep golden color - almost orange. Generous amount of carbonation and a foamy white head. Aroma is banana, clove, and some floral undertones. Nicely balanced banana and clove flavor. A bit sweeter than other German-style hefeweizens. Slightly dry finish with more of the yeast flavor coming through. Good mouthfeel. I found this hefe very enjoyable and a pleasure to drink. This was my first beer from Pennsylvania Brewing Company and after having it, I am eager to try other beers from the brewery. 12 oz bottle; $7.99/6-pack.

Bright yellow, hazy. Definite clove aroma, faint bananas. Flavor has a good bit of wheat up front, grainy, tasty, with cloves again dominating the flavor profile overall. Well done by an American brewer.

Pours a very cloudy amber-copper color with an ENORMOUS off-white head. Aroma is yeastly with a hint of the typical banana/clove. Start is very metallic tasting with banana flavor mid to late. A decent drink, unfortunalty metal-tainted.

Brewtopia’04. Cloudy, almost opaque, golden. Lots of lace. Bananas, bananas, bananas. This is a nice attempt at a German style hefe; i’m tired of American hefers, anyway. The rep was less than amiable, but the beer saved the day. Fruity banana and a sharp clove bite like a spiced gumdrop. Rather thick in texture as it should be, a place where many non-German German hefeweizens seem to fall short.

Bottled. Heavily carbonated, sweet and grainy nose, heavily estery; orange peel, wheat, minerals, and stale air (yeast?). Bright yellow pour, hazy with a huge soapy white head. Full-bodied and sharp, tough to get very far without grimacing at stung teeth or insulted tongue (my face must have looked rather funny!). Nasty metallic-acidic tang, there is a nice bit of clove but it’s swallowed up by the sledgehammer uglies.

The aroma seems more cereal grain accented than wheat. Yeast notes, but no banana. A hint of nilla wafers maybe and toasted vanilla, but it’s solidly different than most German brewed Hefe’s I can recall. The body is golden/yellow with a diminishing white head.Mild banana, yeast notes in the fore, but it tastes a bit like rubber too and is a bit lacking in flavor concentration. Hints at honey and vanilla int he far finish. Just seems off to me. Not what I was expecting.
