Authentic wheat beer, brewed in the Southern German tradition, won the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal at the 2000 in GABF.. Penn Weizen is top-fermented, cask-conditioned, and very effervescent with a slight hint of tangy clove flavor.

Nice German Hefe Weizen. Does not have the over powering banana flavor that many hefe weizens do. Slight banana flavor with clove.

Pale and hazy. Medium banana and light clove aromas. Bright and tart, very refreshing. I don’t always like hefeweizens, but I like this one.

355ml bottle [Thanx David for collecting and tranferring!]. Cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Wheaty, fruity and yeasty aroma, notes of banana, a touch of citrus, mild yeast spiciness. Taste is wheaty, fruity, hints of banana, a touch of lemon, dry hoppy overtones, a touch of clove; minimally watery. More than OK.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with fluffy white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of nice German ester clove spice and wheat sweetness. Taste follows, a hint of banana and metallic aftertaste. Bubbly effervescence, medium body, pretty good for the style.

Gold pour, milk white three finger head. Aroma is grass, pine, wheat, banana, some clove. Taste is watered down a bit and has some yeast in the backbone. Satisfying.

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a hazy gold with a big white head of foam. Good retention. The aroma has bready notes with hints at citrus, banana, nutmeg, orange juice. The taste is a zesty citrus sweetness. Some tartness tingles in the background. Light, airy mouthfeel. Medium to high carbonation.

Transfer from BA review on 7-10-12- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer poured a very hazy orange-yellow color with a medium white head. The head faded relatively fast to give a light amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma is wheaty and yeasty with nice smells of banana, clove, coriander and some citrus aroma. Taste – The taste is very much as the nose would suggest. It starts out wheaty and yeasty which form a base for the beer which lasts throughout the taste experience. At the start there is also a lighter citrus and banana flavor, which fade over time yielding to some spice flavors. More toward the end of the taste, the yeast seems to intensify some with the sweeter flavors lightening. Overall it leaves a slightly drier flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The beers body is of average thickness with the carbonation level being on the slightly above average side. Both are fitting for the style. Overall – It is a good session drier style Weizen. Easy drinking and tasty.
