PilsnerPeter (1324), Flushing, New York, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle at Paul’s Hoboken Gathering: Pours a brown/auburn with hardly any head. Somewhat sweet aroma yet it’s also nice and smoky. Has some peat and smoked ham. Slick body with an earthy/smoky flavor. Light peat upfront with a sweet nuttiness leading to a rich and surprisingly smoky finish. A nice and smoky Scotch Ale.
cmillward (143), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle @ ORL throwdown, courtesy of mcbackus. Dark brown body, quite clear with a thin cream colored head. Smoke, peat, a lot of caramel and a hint of roast. Tastes much the same with a lot of caramel and kissed with peat/smoke. Nice mouthfeel, light carb, some astringent drying on the palate from the smoke. Good! hophead75 (1631), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jun 10, 2008 Sampled at Paul’s Hoboken gathering, I think this was shared by JCWattsrugger. Lightly hazy deep reddish brown in color. Aroma: peat smoke, molasses, earth. Taste has smooth caramel/molasses with a good amount of peat smoke. Nice medium body, alcohol well hidden. Very nice. hopscotch (4386), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2008 Bottle... SMAACMSM O-Town Throwdown, Part Sept... Mostly clear, burnt orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Good, tight retention. Smoke and caramel notes stand out in the nose. Full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Sweet caramel and toffee with no semblance of balance. Lightly smoky. Lingering sweetness in the finish. Muchos gracias to mcbackus for bringing this one along! JoeMcPhee (3643), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 7, 2008 1 L fliptop bottle. Dark brown beer with a thick fluffy tan head. Aroma is great. Sweet, smoky and peaty. Loads of rich sweet smokiness over a rich toffeeish base. Lightly fruity and plummy with a light molasses sweetness. Sweet and toffeeish flavour with even more smoke retronasally. Man, this stuff rocks. goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 6, 2008 Poured a clear amber color with a beige head. The aroma was malty with caramel and earthy notes. Malty flavor with a doughy/peaty taste. Medium bodied.
