Schwarzbier (shvahrts-beer) is German for "black-beer". Brewed to be a light bodied dark beer with a clean, crisp, refreshing finish. Its well balanced malt character is complimented with a touch of roastiness. Brewed using imported black patent malt and noble hops. Pairs with chunky dark breads, marinated meats such as brisket or German Sauerbraten. Not recommended for cellaring. Serve in a flute or pilsner glass at 45-50deg

22 oz bottle courtesy of mcox90. Pour is deep black with ruby highlights with great settling and a pretty 1 inch tan head. Aroma of not much really, some faint roasted maltiness. Taste reveals more character than the nose - the roasty-smoky malt and some prune fruitiness. Finish has some hay and grass. Palate thinnish, drying. Super easy drinking beer I could drink a million of these in a session. Thanks Michael.

22oz bottle, courtesy of argo0. Pours a dark, clear cola-brown color; thin off-white head with patchy fine-bubbled lacing. Cola and pleasant amounts of roasted malts and chocolate in the aroma; a touch of burnt malts. Medium mouthfeel: roasted malts, burnt / charred notes, dark chocolate and some smooth nougat character; a touch of smoke in there as well; a decent schwarz. Medium finish: roasted malts, chocolate, and some dry toasty malts.

Had never seen this stuff until today. Very tasty lager and got more flavorful as it warmed up. Plan on trying some others by this brewer.

Bottle: Cola appearance with an off white ring for head. Mild coffee roast in the aroma along with cocoa. Slick body with a roasted flavor and a sour dough touch. Later earthy twig and cocoa roast in the finish. Simple, but solid.
