Aroma is nutty toasted malts, bready, light sweet caramel, some toffee, herbal and light citrus hops- a bit toned down. Toasty and pale crackery malt flavor, with some dry herbs, tea, citrus, orange zest and some pine needle- caramel sweetness is moderate and an overall very lacking hop bitterness that left the mouthfeel a bit bland and uninspiring. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 13, 2009 (bottle - 22 oz) Hazy copper pour with a very thin and fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some hints of caramel. Flavor begins with a smooth and slightly bitter flavor with a lot of hops and floral notes present. Moves to a very bitter and floral middle with a dry and hoppy finish. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers. Must be the rye in it that makes it that dry.
