bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2008 (Draught) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of rye, grain, caramel, and citrus. Flavor of hops (orange, peach, grassy), caramel malt, and rye bread with a bitter finish. thornecb (1144), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pours deep amber into a shaker. Fluffy beige head with good retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Sourdough rye and resin aromas. Dark rye from front to back with a lasting pine finish. blklab2007 (570), Connecticut, USA Aug 24, 2008 22 oz. bottle poured a medium amber color with a thin off white head. aroma has fresh grass, herbs, light pine hops, faint citrus, and something odd that must be the rye. mouth feel is lighter with low carbonation. flavor has the bitter side of the hops, minerals, again the rye that seems misplaced, and that herbal grass. seems light on the sweetness and the citrus falls short. perhaps this is an old bottle but they just made it to Connecticut recently, although the stout they sent here was already a year old so who knows. after4ever (1753), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2008 22. Thanks, 46er3498! Pours crystal clear dark amber with a thick, pillowy platinum blonde head. CO2, aluminum, and DMS on the nose, along with some mild herbal hop and rye sour. Medium body, active carb though not much of it. Bready, biscuity mid-palate with a bit of piney resin near the end.
