This award-winning ale (Dales Food Festival 2013) uses a hop back to create an extremely well balanced beer, filled with the taste of fruit, together with a complementary slight bitterness. Its bright, golden appearance is combined with its hops.

Look: Bright & Golden
Taste: Not your typical blonde which is finally balanced in hops and natural sugars that combine to add a fruity aftertaste.
Smell: Hoppy and oranges

Cask @ Booth Wood Inn, Rishworth. Hazy golden-blonde with a creamy head. Has an English fruitiness, slightly stewed in this respect, but not by much. Has a bitterness in its finish.

Cask at The Watford Beer Festival 2013. Poured a murky golden colour with a halo of white head. Aroma of yeast, cooked fruit and some straw. Flavours were lacking and what there was seemed rather wort-like. Slight funk and wet grass in there. Not in good condition.

On cask @ Uxbridge Arms, Chasetown - Straw coloured body with white head. A bit doughy on the nose, yeast and malt in there with a fragrant floral hop in the back. Somewhat thinnish on the palate, and a bit dull. Nothing special, but a good one to break up the dark beers.

Cask in the Clarence, W1. Darkish, more golden than truly blonde. This was to be a fairly unremarkable golden ale, nothing wrong with it but nothing amazing either. Basically I like pale golden ales to be either bitingly dry and austere or to have a fresh juicy citrus hop character. This was kind of middle of the road, a bit sweet and slightly fruity.

Cask conditioned handpump Princess Of Wales London 30/10/12. No, not your typical blonde. Not even blonde in colour. Sweet and fruity nose. Sugars and hops. Thin and sweetish in the mouth. Reasonable but not a blonde ale.

Cask by handpump at Drum & Monkey, Glasgow - clear deep golden, thin off-white head, fruity nose, cereal, wheat flavour, prolonged malty aftertaste

Cask conditioned at The Bell, Banbury. Straw with white head. Malty beer with a good bready, baked malt note mixed with a grainy edge. There is a light, slightly perfumed hop in the background. Somewhat thinnish on the palate, but an easy session type beer and sold out pretty quickly.
