3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned handpump Princess Of Wales London 30/10/12. No, not your typical blonde. Not even blonde in colour. Sweet and fruity nose. Sugars and hops. Thin and sweetish in the mouth. Reasonable but not a blonde ale.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Cask at The Watford Beer Festival 2013. Poured a murky golden colour with a halo of white head. Aroma of yeast, cooked fruit and some straw. Flavours were lacking and what there was seemed rather wort-like. Slight funk and wet grass in there. Not in good condition.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On cask @ Uxbridge Arms, Chasetown - Straw coloured body with white head. A bit doughy on the nose, yeast and malt in there with a fragrant floral hop in the back. Somewhat thinnish on the palate, and a bit dull. Nothing special, but a good one to break up the dark beers.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask in the Clarence, W1. Darkish, more golden than truly blonde. This was to be a fairly unremarkable golden ale, nothing wrong with it but nothing amazing either. Basically I like pale golden ales to be either bitingly dry and austere or to have a fresh juicy citrus hop character. This was kind of middle of the road, a bit sweet and slightly fruity.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at The Bell, Banbury. Straw with white head. Malty beer with a good bready, baked malt note mixed with a grainy edge. There is a light, slightly perfumed hop in the background. Somewhat thinnish on the palate, but an easy session type beer and sold out pretty quickly.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 07/09/12.
Clear blonde with a thin white head that soon dissipates to a swirl which then moves to the edge of the glass.
Pale malt nose, orchard fruit and muted hops on the nose.
Medium sweet taste, apple, light caramel.
Medium nodied with moderate carbonation levels leading to a slightly bitter and dry finish.
File under ’W’ for whelmed!
