This is a traditional style "lawnmower" beer of days gone by. This kind of beer used to be sold "3 cases/returnables for $7.50". Just think of it, a whole weekend of total beer bliss for only $7.50, and the neighbor would have enough too.

12 oz can. Pours a clear very pale yellow body with a one finger fizzy white head that faded pretty quickly. Looks like the stadard Pale Lager. The nose is dominated by sweet corn syrup and some light cereal grain. The flavor has a really weird quality that I can’t really pin down, there’s almost a white grape juice or cream soda like taste that hits you up front. Then it fades to a sweet corn syrup bland finish. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy with a bit of clinginess on the finish. Pretty bad stuff, just about what you’d expect from City. Officially the cheapest case of beer I’ve ever bought at $8.99.

at MGM sells for only $11.79 for a 30 pack. Average quality at a great price makes it a great value

Appearance: clear, golden hued, with a proud, billowy, bone white head. Aroma, clean, corny, cereal-y, empty. Taste: wide open set of nothingness...moist, bland, bluh. Not horrible, however, but not anything else, either. Cheap, though, got that going for it.

Ugh....typical Ciity Brewery beer. Metallic in taste, thin and one dimensional. Almost nil aroma...a hint of creamed corn with not much else. Pour was a nice medium gold with a one finger foamy off white head. Don’t know what PA beer this brewer was drinking, but they missed the mark. The only redeeming quality of this beer is that when it is ice cold, it is refreshing (like most pale lagers). Apart from that....blah.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2008 Can from Epps. Pale gold pour, with white spolotchy head. Grainy pale malt and some hopcitrus in the nose and flavor, with a watery flavor, but I didn’t note any off flavors, just a general lack of sensory triggers.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN and shared by joebrew. From a 12-oz can, pours a clear golden pale brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring. Aroma of dry corn malt, some light citrus zest and a touch of bagel dough. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with a flavor of typical macro-brewery mass produced corn/adjunct malt flavor with a touch of citrus. Finish is gritty, light and then a clean cut taste with no aftertaste flavor. This beer would have done well in the 1960-1970s beer drinkers market. A Pennsylvania-style beer? Na, Pennsylvania beers are better than this.
