On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy amber with small beige head that leaves sticky lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and licorice. Medium mouth, roasted malt, caramel, lingering dry finish, very good.

Sample from tap at brewpub. Hazy amber with white head. Smell is sweet malty with nuts and bread. Taste is nutty caramel malty. Sweet with low bitterness and low carbonation.

Rated from notes taken 28 Dec 2012 -- This growler sat in my parents fridge, sealed for 3 months before I could get my hands on it. It held up incredibly well. Translucent copper color malty scent. Great doppelbock flavors and finish.

Draft - Toasted grains and sewed dark bread. Dark mahogany with a decent light brown head. Rye bread and some toffee sweetness. Really nice.

On tap at the brewery. Pretty nice, although there’s minimal belgian or german features (my notes?). Surprising amount of sweet chocolate reminds me more of a mild brown ale.

@FBG Fest-on tap-lt tan-mahogany/dk brown. A-roasty/molasses/maple-med malt, some chicory. T-chocolate/maple/roasty-med malt, earthy hops.

Pours a translucent brown on tap with good tan head and solid lacing. Aroma is bready grain with hints of caramel and marshmallow. Taste is sweet caramel bread, good for the style.

Draft. Poured dark brown with a moderate tan head that lasted with good lacing. Good caramel toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Balanced sweet malt flavor with a moderate smooth balanced finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable doppelbock.

Taster at the brewery. Pours clear reddish brown with a thin white head. Tastes sweet, syrupy, and like chocolate and malt. Medium body and low/medium carbonation. Smells malty and sweet.

Tap at brewery. Pours clear dark amber with a ruby tint and creamy, beige head. Aroma is caramel and cereal malts, light toast, light oak, dates, floral notes, and light fig. Flavor is dry bready malt base with some earthy notes, dark fruit esters, and light ash; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
