Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer festival ’14. Virtually Black with cream head. Rich, deeply roasted malts, sweet, sticky liquorice flavours, fruity, fructose notes, good palate, plummy notes on the finish. Very decent and Sandra’s favourite beer of this festival.

On gravity at the Tewkesbury winter beer festival, 7/2/2014. Near black in colour with next to no head. Big, plain chocolate character, a touch of grassy hop, some dark fruit sweetness leading to a dryish finish. Excellent.

Very dark brown with tan head. Aroma has big roasted, dark chocolate character with a touch of coffee. Taste is full-bodied cocoa, roasted malt and dark fruits.

Cask @ 29th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2012, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England.
Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate malt, roasted malt, malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Gravity dispense at Pig’s Ear BF, London - 05/12/12.
Very dark mahogony brown with a very thin tan head that soon clears to the edge and eventually nyadda.
Nose is a little smokey, wood, dark malts, touch of coffee.
Taste comprises light chocoalte, touch of booze, sweet dark sugars, toffee fudge, dark fruits.
Fuller end of medium bodied, soft carbonation.
A touch above average.

Pigs Ear. Clear dark brown beer, residual tan head. Dry palate. Rich dark malts with a trace of chocolate. Repressed dark fruits. Dry finish. Not bad, bit dry.

Cask at Pigs Ear BF 2012, London. Pours rich brown with a fine, brown foam head. Sturdy chocolate aroma, moderate roast. Medium sweet flavor with some gooey chocolate, mellow roasted malts, light earthy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sticky to finish with light roast and rich cocoa. Good stout.

Gravity @ Pigs Ear 2012. The pour’s deep brown with no head whatsoever. The nose is roasted malts, some chocolate, cream and gateau. Rich, sweet aromas. The taste is chocolate cake, more roasted malts. Smooth, supple cocoa and a bit of vanilla. Silky mouthfeel, fat body. Overall, a really nice stout. One of the beers of the festival!

Near black. The aroma has a lot of chocolate - quite desserty. The taste is like a chocolate liqeur, just rich milk chocolate. Lots of sugars and light alcohol note in the finish.

Cask @ the brewpub (Star Inn). Black with excellent thick, natural head. The aroma is rich and all about the chocolate. The flavors are dry and chocolatey and it’s really really good with lots of cocoa and Kahlua. Wow--impressive.
