4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I would have called this one Mr. Black since pretty much no light can pierce it through the pint glass. Very malty, a little chocolatey, and a bit oily consistency. Tastes and looks kind of like a toned-down imperial stout more than a brown ale to me. Very good overall, I was kind of disappointed I just got a single after trying this one.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle @ Whitey’s / Lawrenceburg IN --- Opaque black/brown color, heavy beige head that sticks around, sheets of lace. Taste is toasted malt that adds fizz and dark chocolate on the swallow, then changes to bitter black coffee and light hazelnut in a lingering finish. How is this a brown ale? Regardless, a solid, complex, well-balanced brew.

355ml bottle. This is a good imperial brown ale, has a bit of boost when drank room temp (which was my case when trying this the other day). Good chocolate and roast notes, good body, almost stoutlike.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Taster on tap at Black Acre. On nitro. Clear dark brown color, with a good thin half-finger of creamy nitro head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Medium-plus body, smooth lighter carbonation. Lightly slick finish. Interesting nutty malt profile. Kind of hazelnutty, light caramel malt, lightly toasty. Moderate sweet taste. Solid nitro brown ale.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
355mL thanks to tastybeer! Clear deep red cola pour, larger beige soda like foam. Good retention and really nice lacing. Nose is cocoa powder, lemonade, fresh raspberries, bright and fresh but odd for style. Taste is pretty straightforward, dusty, lemonade, earth, flashes of metallic penny. Palate is clean, effervescent, light body. Interesting.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a very dark brown with a light brown head, spotty lacing, the chocolate is pretty pronounced on the nose, quite a bit of sweet caramel too, the flavor has a chocolate front end with a dry finish, honestly the abv was probably a little too high with this one, if it was turned down a few notches I think this thing would knock it out of the park, not bad by any means, just kind of missed the mark.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A - Chocolate color with a tan head that dissipates quickly.
S - Again chocolate with some caramel notes.
T - A lot hoppier than most browns. Has a slightly sweet taste upfront and then the bitterness from the hops follows. Good tint of alcohol throughout.
M - A bit lighter than similar beer in this style, but still has a bit of bready thickness to it.
D - Browns aren’t my normal style, but this beer went down incredibly smooth. Would’ve gladly had another if I didn’t have to drive later.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a fairly transparent brown with off-white lacing. Smells solid; sweet and malty with notes of toffee and light hops. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. can courtesy of queenholly. I was really surprised by the color, couldn’t believe it was brown!! No head. Toffee and chocolate with underlying nutty nose. Similar flavors as the nose; caramel, nuts and some chocolate. The flavor is bold for a brown ale. If there is a “Imperial” brown ale this is close. Carbonation is real low yet the texture is lightly creamy. Pretty damn good.

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours dark brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted and chocolate and toffee malts plus some light floral hops. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average to smooth texture. Borders on a stout a little bit for a brown ale, but a good brown ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on it. Nose some some roasting to it with a slight malty sweetness coming through underneath. Taste is actually a little toasty with some elements of coffee to it. Definitely has a bit to it, but is fairly inviting. Interesting...
