American Style Black India Pale Ale. We used an American base malt, Caramalt, and dehusked CaraFa with an addition of cold steeped Black malt to give this IPA it’s black color. Centennial and Columbus hop additions result in an aggressive hop character for a dark beer. The flavor of an IPA style ale meets with hints of roasted dark malts. “BIPA, BIPA, BIPA, can’t you see… sometimes your flavaz just hypnotize me…”

Bottle, eaten with home made authentic sishuan so take it for wht its work. Black pour, struggles to form head. Smell is malty, cocoa nad fruity hops. Flavor has a medium biterness with pith-like citrus flavors and a normal brown ale type base. Works with sishuan.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent dark brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells of dark malt and roast with a fairly bitter hop profile. Tastes like it smells with a touch of chocolate too. Solid on the palate. A decent Black IPA.

8/11/12. GTMW. Medium black/dark brown pour with a nice tan head. Citrusy, hoppy aroma along with touches of roast, mainly coffee in essence. Nice malty entry with plenty of coffee and roast, followed by plenty of citrusy hops. Tasty enough!

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy with a frothy top light brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque except at the edges dark brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt. The flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium malty aftertaste. The semi-thick flavor contained notes of roasted malt mild hops and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

Dark black in color, cler with a thin tan head. Nice Dark malt and light hops aroma and flavor. This had a good malt backing the hops however are too light. I was hoping for more hps to make this a real tasty Black CDA.

Rated on 10-26-2014 (Bottle) The appearance is a very small tan head, hazy black brown body fast rising carbonation, and no lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and citrus hops. The flavor is lightly bitter, citrus hops and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and is worth trying.

tap at Brewhaven festival - This near black colored beer has an aroma mainly of roasted malt with hops lurking in the background. The flavor features ample bitterness with roasted malt and citrus tastes leading into a long, bitter finish. It’s medium to full bodied and quite well done.

Bottle. Roasty coffee, light chocolate, and fresh minty hops aroma. Black brown with a large thick creamy tan head. Earthy roasty malt with subdued minty grapefruit peel hops flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very nice malt forward black IPA.
