Cask at the brewpub.Reddish orange, tannish head. Slight hop and fruit nose, with a hint of licorice. Malt dominates with a hint of carmel. Sharp hop finish. The hops build through the pint and bring balance.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy, dark reddish-copper body with a darinty, tiny-bubbled head. Slightly sweet and mostly sour aroma, bitterness and mustiness. This mustiness stays with the beer in the flavor as well, giving it an interesting character and a little more depth than som other ESBs. However, it unfortunately finishes pretty thin. It is even a bit watery Even so, the beer is very drinkable, and probably the best beer Iíve had from this brewery so far.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught @ Brass Cat, Easthampton MA: Pours a deep copper/bronze, small diminishing head, caramel, sweet malt nose. Slightly thin in body, faint malts and large bitter hops provide a bit of an unbalanced brew, but it is very quaffable none-the-less. Decent, but not exceptional. But, perhaps a more fresh sample would be ideal for a re-rate, as Im sure it is not a big seller where I had my pint. But its good to see the Peeps Pint shipping kegs about the area, woohoo!

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
07/2007: From a 22 oz bottle.
Pours a deep orangish-red color. Brownish head that goes away rather quickly. Itís hazy and deep. Dark and more thick than a regular ESB.
Has a roasted pale ale scent. Like a pale, but burnt. There is also a hint of deep berry smell. There is some minor mustiness but Iíll chalk that up to storage rather than the craft of the beer. Does smell a bit like a basement, though, I have to admit.
Pale malt taste with a toasted/dry ending. Slight taste of bitter hops. Much more burnt roasted taste that I would have expected. Also some dark berry which balances some of the roasted and bitter flavors.
The finish is dry and actually a little ashy. A bite comes at the end, and one thatís not altogether welcome. Overall itís not a bad brew. Itís a bit stiff and somewhat dry. Surely a darker ESB.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Well made and very smooth ESB. I had this on cask at the brewery and it went down real easy. Hops on the nose and tongue, but what really made this special was just the supersmooth taste and lingering hop aftertaste. Wow. Nice job.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Has a nice amber color and a light hop smell. Taste is of hops and finishes slightly bitter. Overall not a bad ESB, but I expect this style to be a bit more bitter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The initial pour starts with soda-like large bubbles, but minute bubbles come up from the bottom and replace the big ones as they pop. The settled head is only a single layer thick. The lace is minimal. The color of the brew is solid brown and hazy--light glows through the glass.
Chocolate and caramel aromas; light floral hop in the background. Somewhat earthy.
Think: Highly hopped brown ale. Great balance. Powerful darker malts (crystal and chocolate?) are strong but still offset by the bitter hop. Not a delicate beer--full flavored and full bodied. The aftertaste is a long lasting hop pellet.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow very good. malt and toffee aroma, and full flavor of the same. Rich, creamy, with a subtle hops presence. Also a slight sour taste that is very nice.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask conditioned. More sour than bitter. Very interesting though. Sour apple, fruity, almost some vinegar hints in there. Very nice bitter finish.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy brownish red with a thin white head with good retention. Aroma was a bit sour almost like a Flemish style. Taste was sour malts and ???? Not much to say about this beer.
