after4ever (1752), Brier, Washington, USA Jan 9, 2008 22. Thanks, Kim! Crystal clear medium amber with a slim gray rim. Huge nose of sweet and fruity ginger. Body’s on the light side of medium. Very little carb. Rich red apple skins and ginger on the mid-palate. Long gingery mild finish. thornecb (1142), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Dec 1, 2007 My first real Mead rating - aged 1 year -- so lets take it from there...Pours honey amber into a Snifter. Bright white head skims rim. Honey, clover, cinnamon and alcohol aromas. First sip is dry and crisp apple soaked honey with a lasting sour finish. Second sip is crisp apple-soaked honey and full sour honey. Thought meads were supposed to be sweeter and less cider-like, but enjoyed this concoction nonetheless. jimhilt (1428), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Dec 1, 2007 Almost pours a one finger white head that goes quickly to a ring leaving a little lace. Low carbonation and medium bodied. Almost clear amber color. Nose is apple cider. Flavor is honey and cider, very smooth, high ABV is hidden, hops in the background. Nice beer but not the usual braggot - not enough body and not as sweet. $6.30 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA. Label has ABV at 9.8%. goldtwins (3740), Nesconset, New York, USA Sep 4, 2007 Poured a hazy golden amber color with no head. The aroma was of sweet honey, Mary Jane candy, and flowers. The flavor was both sweet and tart with a dry finish. Honey flavor with a hint of apples. Mildly bitter finish. Light thin body with a very dry finish. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jun 26, 2007 Growler at DL Day: Deep amber hued with zero head or lace. The aroma is pure wildflower and spice market with noticeable vapours of clove, sage, white pepper, anise, mint and heather along with some wild mountain honey. The taste has some fruity character (cherry and apple) along with the spices run amok. A sweet layer of honey and malt under it all. In the end the spices were simply way too much and it became undrinkable half way through.
