Capped 750 from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Aromas of burnt malt, not too burnt, chocolate and berry jam. Med+ body. Flavor is dark berry, chocolate, sourish, dark malt. Took a moment to slide into this, but (except for a peanut butter note that just popped up) this is quite a production. Ends rather sour currant with chocolate and earthy notes.

Bottle @ Richard’s tasting. Copper pour with a khaki head. Really fruity nose. Raisin, currant, and slight acidity. Lemon zest, grass, and yeast. Light spices. Flavor is sweet dark fruit with some acidity and tartness. Lemon, brown sugar, currant, and raisin. Yeast, a touch of spice, and grass.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark ruby color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sweet dark fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet dark fruit flavor and a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good after dinner with a cigar brew that exceeded my expectations.

Draft at Churchkey. Maroon color, clear, tan edge head. Aroma of dark berries, cherries, grapes. Taste is softly sour currant, sourdough brown bread.

Bottle at home. Pours lightly hazy dark brown with a small, frothy beige head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is cookie malt, black currant, light toast malt, sour dark fruits and earthy notes. Flavor is sour dark fruits, earthy and toasted malt, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle @ Brad’s house Minneapolis, courtesy of jcnielsen. Pours a fairly clear, deep brown appearance with a small brown head. Nutty, dark berry, currant, chewy toasty malty, light caramel aroma. Light cough syrupy, blackberry/currant, a touch tart, nutty, caramel flavor. Not exactly my thing but it’s kind of interesting.

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a brown color with a smaller sized head. Currants, berries, some fruitiness, and some toastiness. Very light tart finish.

750mL. Pours clear brown with low foam. Spotty lace. Nose is sweet cherry, ash, Belgian yeast easter, candi sugar. Taste is Abbey Dubbel with mild lemon acid, tea, tart/citric finish. Thinner body.

Draft at Capital Ale House in Harrisonburg. Pours a dark brown with a red tint. Medium sized frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of strong currant, earth, grapes, mild spice. The taste is tart fruits, chocolate, earth. Medium bodied, slight lingering tartness.

Bottle at Paul’s. Pours dark brown. Nose/taste of sour milk, black currants, dark cocoa and caramel. Mild acid. The sour milk really throws me off. Otherwise solid. Medium body.
