17 is a decadent chocolate stout complimented with a smooth mint finish perfect for winter’s last hurrah. Clocking in at 10% alcohol by volume, it is sure to warm you inside and out.

Bottle thanks to BeBeau. Deep dark pour with tan head, okay retention and lacing. Aroma is basically an Andes mint. Taste ends roasty, bitter and with plenty of alcohol bite, which is in contrast to the sweet Andes expectation. That might be intentional, but this is one expectation I want to be met -- chocolate mint should be sweet, not harsh. Anyway, as it warms and I acclimate (possibly aided by a brownie), and it improves. Or maybe I’m just getting drunk. Whatever the reason, it is redeemed.

Draft: Oily black...with a small brown head. Chocolate, peppermint aroma. Taste is dark chocolate malt, mint cookie, cocoa... A roasty, dark chocolate bitter. Creamy and rich...very nice cooling mint and roasted malts..... Wonderful stuff.

Bottle in the back kf the frudge, pours the part with a light khaki head that leaves nice lacing. Nice mint nose. Taste is like thin mint girl scout cookies. Thin light body.

[7189-20150418] Tap. Mint chocolate aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy brown body. Strong mint chocolate herb and thick roasted grains flavour. Full body. Delicious but enormous. (8/4/9/4/17) 4.1

Capped 750 from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brn/blk with a really dark tan head. Mint aroma is present. Mixed accompanying odors which might include chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is mint, chocolate, smooth burnt malt. Not getting coffee. There’s a touch of heat. Pretty nice ale, but I’m far from ecstatic about the mint.

Big hits of mint over a very chocolate base in the aroma. Dark thick black cascades as it pour with a lasting brown head. The herbal mint is carried on a rich velvet bed of cocoa. Perfect alone or with ice cream they nailed this beer.

750ml bomber from Sonoma Cellars in Oconomowoc shared by all during the 4th weekend family get-together. Cellar aged about 2 months. Huge choco-mint nose. Thin mints come to life! Less solid in the flavor with the mint being too sweet, even cloying. Muddled with the mint and the chocolate not being clean. 13.7

On tap at Pinocchio’s. Dark pour with tan head and pretty nice lacing. Mint and chocolate on the nose. Very rich flavor, tons of chocolate and mint. Like beerified mint chocolate chip ice cream. Smooth on the tongue. I dig it.
