17 is a decadent chocolate stout complimented with a smooth mint finish perfect for winterís last hurrah. Clocking in at 10% alcohol by volume, it is sure to warm you inside and out.

Slightly minty and really chocolately stout. Super easy to drink and pours almost black in color. Had this at world of beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Black in color with a tan head. Smells like mint chocolate chip...which I guess is the point. Toffee, some vanilla, and dark fruit. A bit of brown sugar, too. Flavor is very much like an Andes mint and/or mint chocolate chip. Nice sweetness of fudge, vanilla, and toffee. I guess if you donít like mint then you wonít like it. I thought it was good, though.

As of June 2014, this is listed as a Winter seasonal but I just tried it at the brewery so who knows what thatís all about. In any case, this pours out with the same black and mostly headless appearance of all Perennialís stouts w/ a similar heavy, creamy texture but this one instead of smelling pretty good, smells like someone mixed coffee and a mint julep. It tastes the same, which is to say this is like brushing your teeth after drinking hot chocolate. I actually really like this flavor combo in life generally but in beer it kind of makes me feel sick to my stomach. I tried this as something of an accident and will do a better job of avoiding it in the future.

Offering shared at RateBeer Grand Tasting 2014 (St. Louis, MO). Pours a nice deep blackish inky pour, dark and deep, rooasty with touches of gentle glow, some roasty brown edges. Aromas are cool and minty, earth and spearmint, touches of gentle roast, toast, cocoa. Initial has a firm silky body, nice roast. Decent roast, a bit of cocoa and nice earthy cool mint. Middle is a bit cool, roasty with cocoa nib, some toast and toffee. Gentle warmth and toastiness, roasty barley and gentle sweetness. Mint and dryness, decent roast on the backend shows some life, thins it out but still silky, smooth overall. Finish is a bit minty, gentle roast and lingering dark malt. Nice.

Bottle - Chocolate and the mint is a little herbal and medicinal. Jet black with a decent head. Dark chocolate and a menthol like mint. Good, but the BA is much better rounded.

Bottle @ home, opened after getting engaged to Rachel! Poured a deep black appearance with a decent brown head. Aroma is definitely full of mint and chocolate with some herbal notes and slight roast. Flavor is slightly sweet but not too bad. Low to moderate bitterness. Some alcoholic heat. Dessert like flavor. The mint almost tastes slightly artificial, but overall, it wa a pretty fun beer.

Bottle... This beer rocks!Ö Tar-black ale with a small, creamy, beige head. The bouquet offers deeply-roasted mocha, scorched brownies and fudge madness accompanied by an enjoyable and intriguing whisper of mint. Full-bodied and silky with subtle carbonation. The flavor presents bitter, burnt malts, followed by a singed caramel and burnt mocha finish. Bitterness lingers. Another world class brew furnished by landhoney!

On draft at Whole Foods in Alexandria, VA. The beer is black with a thin beige collar. The aroma offers a huge helping of chocolate mints, dominating the scent. The flavor follows suit. Think Girl Scout thin mints or Andes candies in beer form. True to the name. Itís certainly well executed. that said, it becomes cloying rather quickly. A fun beer to sample or enjoy a small pour, but a bottle could easily be split many ways.
