Draft from the taproom. Pours black with a rich tan head. Nose is dark chocolate and mint. Taste is big time mint and big time chocolate, but they work so well together. Mint does not come across as sharp or intrusive as it sometimes can. Great beer, especially in 5oz-at-a-time pours.

Mint dominates this beer and takes it a little too far over the edge. Pours thick black, syrupy-looking without much head or lacing. Some roast evident underneath this but itís mostly all mint. Tap at RFD.

Deep black, pretty viscous. Strong smell of mint, taste of vegetal spearmint, some chocolate malts maybe some coffee. Mint bomb. Like dry bad mint ice cream. May improve with some time for mint to mellow. Most of these are always fails for me....sole exception has been the Ken Schmidt/Iron Fist/Stone collab from a few years back. Glad I didnít pay for this.

pentaz (952) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 15, 2014
Bottle @ Yespr. Pours black with a lasting tan small head. Aroma is mint, chocolate, heavy cocoa, mild glue, roasted malts. Taste is moderate+ sweet and bitter. Body is medium+, texture is viscous, carbonation is soft. Finishes very sweet and warming with long lingering mint and chocolate. Too much mint makes the drinkability low.

[Tap] Inky black pour without much head. Low carbonation. Frango mint aroma. Taste is of dark chocolate, heavy mint notes, lighter amounts of roasted malts. Dry and fresh finish thanks to the mint. Pretty good, but could be better with the mint dialed down a notch. Tasting notes from 2/2014.

on tap at Stoutfest í14. this beer lost out to very menthol bomb, poorly balanced, and undrinkable. surprised with how poorly executed this was when you have abraxas next to it and pipeworks much better mint stout on the other side. although this did have a much better and more stout like body than pipeworks.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2014 GI Stout Fest 2014. Pours a deep brownish black with a dark brown head. Aroma is huge huge mint with a slight chocolate. Taste was similar but the mint was a bit medicinal and overpowering. If you like mint, this is your thing. Thick and syrupy.

At stoutfest. Poured black min tan head. Strong mint choc like candy aroma. Light carb. Taste too strong in mint like mouthwash.

Lukaduke (1754) - Portland, Maine, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Pours a deep burnt umber color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is heavy on the chocolate roast with some sweet bakers chocolate too. Good dose of straw and minty herbalness to let you know what your getting into as well. The palate follows with nice long chocolate flavors that are heightened by lingering mint, pine, roasted grain and even a trace of coffee as well.

750ml bottle shared thanks to Lukaduke! Pours rich dark brown with small tan head. Nose is roasty coffee and mint, pistachio. Taste is creamy chocolate, spruce, mint, mocha. Finish is mint chocolate chip, cocoa, roasty coffee. Good stuff.
