3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft from the taproom. Pours black with a rich tan head. Nose is dark chocolate and mint. Taste is big time mint and big time chocolate, but they work so well together. Mint does not come across as sharp or intrusive as it sometimes can. Great beer, especially in 5oz-at-a-time pours.

On tap at Pinocchioís. Dark pour with tan head and pretty nice lacing. Mint and chocolate on the nose. Very rich flavor, tons of chocolate and mint. Like beerified mint chocolate chip ice cream. Smooth on the tongue. I dig it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap, poured into a tulip. The aroma is that of minty fudge cookies. Itís dark, oily looking, and black with a brown, dense soap head that has okay retain and decent lace. The taste is highly sweet with a medium bitter note. The texture is slick and syrupy with a light zip of carbonation and a full body thatís mint fudge cookies from front to back. Itís fairly clean with an aftertaste thatís a bit bready, but mostly chocolate and mint.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a bottle.
Aroma has a strong mint note, and combined with the alcohol it comes across a bit like mint extract. Moderately strong dark chocolate notes with light roast and some light alcohol spice.
Pours a viscous, dark black with a medium sized, fairly thick, mocha head that steadily recedes to a thin film that lingers. Medium lacing and moderate legs.
Flavor is moderately sweet with a moderately strong mint note with an equally strong chocolate not with both dark and milk chocolate components. Some light roast notes and light alcohol spice lingering with the mint in the finish.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and somewhat creamy with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, this is one of those beers that I just canít get behind but others might like. While I like mint chocolate things, it just doesnít work great in a beer. The alcohol creates an extract and medicinal character that milk chocolate desserts does not have. A small quantity is interesting, but this is definitely a bottle to share.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium creamy tan head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong thin min, chocolate, roast, booze. Thick mouth, chewy, dark chocolate, thin mints, nice boozy finish, really enjoyed this one.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at The Birch, Norfolk, VA during the 43 Hours Of USA 2015. Pours black with a cinnamon brown head. Obvious aroma of peppermint with hints of chocolate. Rich, roasty taste of chocolate and espresso with what is clearly peppermint. As prominent as the peppermint is Perennial somehow makes it work wonderfully. Great beer!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Truly sublime. I was worried that the mint would be over the top, but itís a minor addition that infuses the flavor quite well, and complements the base stout quite nicely.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Labeled as Perennial Mint Chocolate Stout. Tasted on draft at 2015 St. Louis Microfest in a willi becher glass. It poured an opaque black with deep brown foam and lots of lace. Malty, toasty, a little roasty, VERY minty and chocolatey, just like the green mint chocolate chip ice cream. As usual, not at all balanced (but this one goes to eleven!) but bold and delicious with Perennial written all over it.
