Draft from the taproom. Pours black with a rich tan head. Nose is dark chocolate and mint. Taste is big time mint and big time chocolate, but they work so well together. Mint does not come across as sharp or intrusive as it sometimes can. Great beer, especially in 5oz-at-a-time pours.

Bottle courtesy of the Tampa Tasting Crew. Cheers, guys! Pours a deep stout brown with a tan head. Nose is some roast, some sweet mint, spearmint, and some chocolate. Flavor is similar with roast, sweet mint, chocolate, and some earthy bitterness. Medium in body and one to ponder.

Smells like mint chocolate.. no complaints here. Looks great as well. The taste is kind of funky... like York’s Peppermint Patty and spearmint. Don’t like it very much.

750. Minty. Very minty. Mint extract. Probably too much. Very dark chocolate.

Pitch black and opaque with a one finger light beige had that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Sporadic spotty lacing left behind. Robust dark malt aroma with a fresh mint leaf presence along with lighter malt sweetness. Mint smells organic/real yet doesn’t overpower the stout notes. Nicely integrated into hints of coffee bean, burnt toast and oatmeal. As it warms, sweeter desert-like notes come though with bakers chocolate, fudge, etc. decent but could use a bit more of a sweeter malt presence. Lighter end of medium body wih strong charred oak and acrid/burnt malt notes followed by subtle minty sweetness. The mint comes through the most in the finish which is somewhat refreshing but the oak and burnt malts nearly overpower everything. Heavy roast with burnt coffee grinds, oatmeal, charred toast, ash and bitter dark chocolate. Sweeter notes found in the aroma are overpowered and barely noticeable. After it warms and the palate adjust, they start to show up a bit but this beer is severely lacking in balance. Event the fresh mint flavor is kind of weak. Disappointing.

Bottle: Vintage 2013: Taster: Small brown head. Black beer. Load of herbal tones with an earthy tone, some mint, chocolate and roast... Flavour is more mint than aroma, herbal and earthy timts, some malt roast, chocolate... Aftertaste is bitter, earthy, herbal, spice, mint... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium to bit fuller bodied.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Countbeer. Opaque pitch black color, average sized brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is horrible: mint, toothpaste. Taste malts, toothpaste, mint, earthy. Some might like this, but I find it absolutely disgusting. Horrible, undrinkable.

750mL bottle, pours a jet black like motor oil with a small dark brown head. Nose brings out loads of mint, some chocolate and roast. Flavour is intense as hell, with roasted malt, loads of mint, and chocolate. Not usually a fan of mint in stouts, but this works really. Palate is thick as fuck - good for small doses. Excellent.
