Capped 750 from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brn/blk with a really dark tan head. Mint aroma is present. Mixed accompanying odors which might include chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is mint, chocolate, smooth burnt malt. Not getting coffee. Thereís a touch of heat. Pretty nice ale, but Iím far from ecstatic about the mint.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Big hits of mint over a very chocolate base in the aroma. Dark thick black cascades as it pour with a lasting brown head. The herbal mint is carried on a rich velvet bed of cocoa. Perfect alone or with ice cream they nailed this beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bomber from Sonoma Cellars in Oconomowoc shared by all during the 4th weekend family get-together. Cellar aged about 2 months. Huge choco-mint nose. Thin mints come to life! Less solid in the flavor with the mint being too sweet, even cloying. Muddled with the mint and the chocolate not being clean. 13.7

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap, poured into a tulip. The aroma is that of minty fudge cookies. Itís dark, oily looking, and black with a brown, dense soap head that has okay retain and decent lace. The taste is highly sweet with a medium bitter note. The texture is slick and syrupy with a light zip of carbonation and a full body thatís mint fudge cookies from front to back. Itís fairly clean with an aftertaste thatís a bit bready, but mostly chocolate and mint.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a bottle.
Aroma has a strong mint note, and combined with the alcohol it comes across a bit like mint extract. Moderately strong dark chocolate notes with light roast and some light alcohol spice.
Pours a viscous, dark black with a medium sized, fairly thick, mocha head that steadily recedes to a thin film that lingers. Medium lacing and moderate legs.
Flavor is moderately sweet with a moderately strong mint note with an equally strong chocolate not with both dark and milk chocolate components. Some light roast notes and light alcohol spice lingering with the mint in the finish.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and somewhat creamy with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, this is one of those beers that I just canít get behind but others might like. While I like mint chocolate things, it just doesnít work great in a beer. The alcohol creates an extract and medicinal character that milk chocolate desserts does not have. A small quantity is interesting, but this is definitely a bottle to share.
