4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at The Birch, Norfolk, VA during the 43 Hours Of USA 2015. Pours black with a cinnamon brown head. Obvious aroma of peppermint with hints of chocolate. Rich, roasty taste of chocolate and espresso with what is clearly peppermint. As prominent as the peppermint is Perennial somehow makes it work wonderfully. Great beer!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Truly sublime. I was worried that the mint would be over the top, but it’s a minor addition that infuses the flavor quite well, and complements the base stout quite nicely.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Labeled as Perennial Mint Chocolate Stout. Tasted on draft at 2015 St. Louis Microfest in a willi becher glass. It poured an opaque black with deep brown foam and lots of lace. Malty, toasty, a little roasty, VERY minty and chocolatey, just like the green mint chocolate chip ice cream. As usual, not at all balanced (but this one goes to eleven!) but bold and delicious with Perennial written all over it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown to black pour from draft tannish head. Seriously strong mint aroma that follows up - like Andes chocolate followed up by roasty malt. Pretty nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very interesting, unique stout. Pours a deep viscous black with a thin tan head. Smells of mints chocolate and a bit of shush a tobacco. Taste is very thick and creamy, with some sweet chocolate upfront, followed by lots of mint and a booziness in the finish. Had in the bottle at Pig and Pickle in Concord.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2015-04-18. Black body with a modest creamy beige head and lace. 3++ Strong aroma of herbal mint character with chocolate notes. Flavour is pretty intense up front, sharp almost minty character. Herbal? (At this point I looked up the beer to confirm what it was) Muted chocolate character is subsumed by the mint. Smooth medium bodied palate, soft carbonation. Lovely base and chocolate accents but the overall balance leans way too far towards the mint for me. Disappointing. On tap at Allen Burger Venture, Buffalo.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Scion in Silver Spring, MD.
Opaque, near black with a brown head excellent lacing.
Aroma of chocolate mints, anise, roasted malt, orange and coffee.
Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, chocolate mints, vanilla, alcohol, anise and menthol.
Full/medium body and medium/low carbonization with a rich, but cooling mouthfeel.
I was worried that I would not like the mint, but it worked well here to give a rich, full beer a cooling mouthfeel. The aroma is great, but there is a little more mint and menthol in the flavor than I care for. While the idea of a cooling stout for summer sipping sounds slightly seductive, I've got air conditioning and I'm more than happy to drink heavy stouts in summer. Nevertheless, a quite nice brew.
