On tap at Crafty Cow, pours black with thin tan head; nice lacing. Aromas of vanilla bean, cinnamon, cocoa nibs, and faint notes of pepper. Taste is very similar, cinnamon is most prominent, but the vanilla/cocoa/pepper blend is prevalent in the palate as well. Very good. Glad I had the chance to try this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle enjoyed @ home, thanks to Tom! Pours pitch black with a small but semi-long lasting brown head. Aroma is delicious! Roasted malt, cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, raisins and some peppery chili. Flavour is medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Full bodied, thick and oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is cinnamon, chocolate and christmas cake-like. Very pleasant.

Tap at mikkeller bar sf. Attractive jet black coloured pour with a creamy dark tam head. Aroma is Jamaica cake, spicy, raisin and coffee roasted grains. Flavour is composed of spicy chili and choc, cocoa, veg pepper, vanilla, and a little toasted coconut. Rich dark choc. Palate is full and creamy, smooth on the tongue. Moderate carbonation. Very creamy. I like it. Good chilli choc combo.

Brown/ black with the aroma of cinnamon. Sweet, and mildly spicy like a molè, but fairly drinkable. I think this could use some wood, so will have to look for those versions. Massively overpriced, though at $24/750. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This was bottled in Nov 2013 - cellared until now. Pours a very very dark brown, but not black. Head is thick and the color of dark chocolate milk with subtle undertones of pink. Aroma - cocoa nibs, spicy sweetness presumably from the peppers, and some coffee underneath. Taste - (wow) this awesome. Full of cocoa, slightly spicy notes from the anchos, dark roasted malts (not as strong as black malt) - itís kind of like a slightly spice mocha. Mouthfeel is full and thick, really coats the tongue and the spiciness and cocoa linger for a good long time. Man this is awesome!

Just an experience, this beer is so interesting and just so on the mark with balance of intriguing Flavors and aromas of toasted marshmellow, heat of chili pepper, brown sugar, and cinnamon Some beers of this style are Prairie Bomb, CC Hunahpuh The mouthfeel is chewy and dense I think thereís so much going into this mix that one would suppose a weak element Would be found, but no complaints from me

First of 2016. 11/2015 on the bottle. Pours like oil with a very small dark brown reddish head. Smells awesome, a bit of peppers,a load of cinnamon, a hint of cacao nibs, a bit of coffee, and a bit of roasted malt. But the cinnamon dominates the entire profile. Taste is similar to the smell. A load of cinnamon but never overpowering or tiresome. There is enough of the other aspects to keep it interesting. A hint of pepper spice, a bit of cacao, a hint of dark bitter chocolate, with a bit of coffee, and roasted malt in the end. Mouth feel is completely thick, with almost no carbonation. No bitterness or heavily roasted. Overall its a great cinnamon stout.

750mL bottle. Deep brownish-black, stouty pour with no head to speak of. Nose is cocoa, ancho chilis, raisins, cinnamon, very faint smokiness. Mouth is slick and oily, roast, big bakers chocolate, mild heat, sweet with a decently balanced bitterness, cinnamon and dried chilis coming through, warm finish. Iím not gonna overplay this -- itís good, but Iíve definitely had better, in fact much better. To me, itís overhyped for what it is (most of the Perennial beers Iíve tried fit this bill), and absolutely overpriced ($24.99 at Binnyís... seriously, for that price it better be as good as a blowjob... or at least a handy under the table while out to dinner with your girl). Whatever. It was still a happy New Year regardless of this malted barley swindle.
