3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle... really great looking beer, super dark black body with an equally dark tan head, good carbonation, just great coloring... on the aroma I get a big initial burst of the cinnamon, a bit of peper and a little chocolate, good but I’m not a big cinnamon fan so its not great for me... the best thing about the tasting experience is the mouthfeel, full and coating, thankfully the cinnamon fades on the taste, as do the peppers, get more nibs and chocolate flavors than anything... solid beer I’d have again

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black....with a full, dark tan head.
Cocoa, milk chocolate, cream, cinnamon aroma..
Cinnamon toast, dark chocolate flavour....
The cinnamon and a light chile warmth sneaks up slowly....then really kicks in at the finish....

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle shared with koleminer20. 2013 vintage. Aroma is cocoa, cinnamon, some light chilies, light vanilla, booze, roasted malt. Appearance is black, brown head, poured nice. Taste is cocoa, cinnamon, chilies, vanilla, roasted malt, very fucking good. Mouthfeel is thick, soft carbonation, oily, wonderful. Overall, in comparison to Hunahpu this beer is slightly off. The presence of initial cinnamon flavor it’s muted until the aftertaste, whereas Hunahpu was very cinnamon forward, but on its own, it’s wonderfully delicious.

4.5oz pour on tap. Madison.
Pours very dark, basically black. Small rim if tan head.
Aroma is sweet- chocolate and coffee. Spiciness in the background. Roasty notes.
Taste is sweet with a dark chocolate bitterness. A touch of spice in the finish.
Body is heavy. Thick texture. Subtle carbonation. Long finish.

2/19/15. Sampled during RBWG 2015. Black pour with a small tan head. Nice aroma, good mix of cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla, light coffee aspect. Nice flavor, peppers coming through, mixes well with the cinnamon, cocoa coming through as well. Tasty!

big brown pour. Aroma molasses, ginger soil big cinnamon, chinese cola dandelion. Tastes bitter herbs chinese cola. chocolate is minimal/ ends up being woody. dry boozy palate alcohol pretty well hidden. really out there for a imperial stout of any sort. Doesn’t hold very close the the Mexican hot chocolate thing either. This is Perennial in full twisted herbal/spice pantry glory.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2014 Bottle. Pours a very deep dark brown with a medium sudsy tan head. Aromas burst out with sweet malts, cinnamon, clove, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor was mild coffee, chocolate, tons of cinnamon, clove, vanilla. Pretty much followed the nose for me. Only knock was that it did have a boozy tast/ burn to it. At 10%, I know it may be expected, but I’ve had others that hid it better for me. Still, an amazing beer and near perfect. Full body, creamy texture, good bubbly carbonation, long finish with alcohol heat.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

I’m usually a huge imperial Stout fan, and had never tired any of Perennial’s brews, so I was excited to grab a sample at World of Beer Fest. It was disappointing. Not a fan of the spiciness particularly from the chilis; the chocolate flavor was good; the cinnamon taste was muted but didn’t do much to enhance the flavor.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
5 ounce sample on tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Aroma has some spicy cinnamon at first. Followed by lots of boozy ethanol. Mild sweet cocoa powder is present, too. Mildly transparent dark mahogany body with a small, tan head. Start with sweet CHOCOLATE MILK. Lots of chocolate milk...Finishes warming and spicy with a pepper kick. Not too spicy, however. Just warm. Interesting stuff.
