3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle... really great looking beer, super dark black body with an equally dark tan head, good carbonation, just great coloring... on the aroma I get a big initial burst of the cinnamon, a bit of peper and a little chocolate, good but I’m not a big cinnamon fan so its not great for me... the best thing about the tasting experience is the mouthfeel, full and coating, thankfully the cinnamon fades on the taste, as do the peppers, get more nibs and chocolate flavors than anything... solid beer I’d have again

750ml bottle pours a black color with a lot of frothy head. I'm not into too much spice, but this is delicious. Mild chili. Rich cocoa flavor. So smooth.

Thanks to Mrhangover! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ “Dean’s sticky Bomb Shelter” Tasting. Black, solid mocha head. Nose is sweet soy sauce, chocolate syrup, caramel, basic coffee. Taste is huge massive cinnamon, huge chocolate syrup, tad is a bit too artificial, chocolate syrup-like, massively so with thick sugar, candy, basic coffee,… Thick chocolate syrup body. A bit too basic chocolate syrup, adjunct heavy for me but rather nice overall. Bottle was about 1 year old. Not getting the chili to be honnest.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black and completely opaque without even a trace of lighter color. Half finger dark mocha head that quickly settles into a thin ring. Minimal spotty lacing left behind. Nice color but has poor retention. Foam head fades and there’s not much in the way of lacing.
The nose on this beer is really incredible. Excellent barrel character that doesn’t completely overpower the complex malt bill of the base. Perfectly integrated. A touch of damp oak and subtle toothpick but not too strong of a wood flavor. Really nice spirit with spicy whiskey/boozy bourbon flavor. Barrel also gives off a lot of vanilla bean, toasted coconut and gooey marshmallow. Underneath, there is a very nice blend of roasted and sweet, desert-like malts. Subtle roast but not overpowering with some coffee bean, burnt toast, smoke, oatmeal and bitter dark chocolate. This is countered by silky chocolate-like sweetness, caramel, milk chocolate, lactic cream, fudge and molasses. This beer smells crazy good.
Full body with oily viscosity and a blast of boozy heat that lingers over the other barrel notes and complex malts into a dry, hot finish. Lots of alcohol flavor and the ABV isnt very well masked. spicy rye whiskey along with dry oak/toothpick. Barrel isn’t as complex as in the nose. Spirit is really strong and it has a stronger wood flavor than I prefer. Some subtle vanilla/coconut sweetness. Malts flavors are still lingering underneath but they are blasted and overwhelmed by the heat/whiskey. Stronger roasted malt presence than expected with burnt sugary sweetness. Deeply roasted robust espresso/coffee flavor along with smoke, burnt wood, charred toast and bitter dark cocoa. As the palate adjusts the sweet fudge/baker’s chocolate notes start to show. Pretty good but isn’t as complex as expected. The chile spiciness and cinnamon show up after it warms but the palate needs to adjust to the overwhelming whiskey and heat. Smells great but it’s really hot and boozy and the malt bill is overly charred/roasted. Decent but kind of underwhelming considering the fanfare.

Draft at bells 30th, amazing aroma of cinnamon, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and some sweetness. Taste comes together perfect- chocolate and cinnamon upfront, with some coffee and sweet fruits to finish, hard to find any criticism but is a touch thin, amazing

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
From notes. 08/07. Madison. 750 mL bottle from 2013. The pour is a thick black with minimal dark khaki head and no lace. It stains the glass nicely as well. The aroma is great. Strong chili and cocoa presences. And the cinnamon adds a nice spiciness. Nice and roasty with a good spiciness. There is a light creaminess beyond it. It's complex, multi-layered, and really creamy. The flavor is good. Great balance of chilies and cocoa with cinnamon that remains hidden until the aftertaste. The finish is like raw cinnamon sticks. The complexity is beautiful. Smooth and reserved with detectable amounts of each of the main characters. The roast is well balanced and delightful. The mouth feel is thick and viscous with a great creamy soft carbonation and a lovely lingering aftertaste that is all cinnamon. This is such a good beer

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black....with a full, dark tan head.
Cocoa, milk chocolate, cream, cinnamon aroma..
Cinnamon toast, dark chocolate flavour....
The cinnamon and a light chile warmth sneaks up slowly....then really kicks in at the finish....

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2015 Bottle shared with koleminer20. 2013 vintage. Aroma is cocoa, cinnamon, some light chilies, light vanilla, booze, roasted malt. Appearance is black, brown head, poured nice. Taste is cocoa, cinnamon, chilies, vanilla, roasted malt, very fucking good. Mouthfeel is thick, soft carbonation, oily, wonderful. Overall, in comparison to Hunahpu this beer is slightly off. The presence of initial cinnamon flavor it?s muted until the aftertaste, whereas Hunahpu was very cinnamon forward, but on its own, it?s wonderfully delicious.

2/19/15. Sampled during RBWG 2015. Black pour with a small tan head. Nice aroma, good mix of cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla, light coffee aspect. Nice flavor, peppers coming through, mixes well with the cinnamon, cocoa coming through as well. Tasty!
