bottle... really great looking beer, super dark black body with an equally dark tan head, good carbonation, just great coloring... on the aroma I get a big initial burst of the cinnamon, a bit of peper and a little chocolate, good but Im not a big cinnamon fan so its not great for me... the best thing about the tasting experience is the mouthfeel, full and coating, thankfully the cinnamon fades on the taste, as do the peppers, get more nibs and chocolate flavors than anything... solid beer Id have again

Jet black pour with a single finger espresso head. Aroma is full of cinnamon and chocolate. Smells really great. Huge mouth. Taste is full of chocolate, lots of cinnamon, kind of nutty. The ancho chilis are not detectable at first, but heat builds as you drink. Insanely drinkable, a lot like drinking a hot cocoa with cinnamon.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thick brown head that dissipates. Super cinnamon flavor with some heat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A deep black with ruby highlights, the smell on this is awesome: gingerbread, cinnamon, mint, chocolate. Full bodied with a sharp mouthfeel. The taste matches the aroma and delivers a chocolate stout you'd drink Christmas morning. Awesome, even better than Sump. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Coles. Coal black with big light brown head. Aroma is spice, medium/thick body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is spicy peppers, dark malt, cinnamon, and some chocolate. Heavy spiced similar to Hunahpu, but not as good for me.

Bottle courtesy of milsem. Pours viscous oily black with a small creamy mocha head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and heavy spicy with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, burnt toast, dark roast coffee, bitter dark chocolate, cinnamon, ancho chili, moist soil and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and spicy. Mouthfeel is viscous, oily, round, astringent, tiny boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasty malts, bitter chocolate and heavy ancho chili and cinnamon spiciness. Extremely spicy which gets over the top for me. A good spicy imperial stout but definitely not the best in the genre.

Good the peppers where just a little too hot.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle, thanks to Mike. I can smell all of the spices on the aroma, but nothing else. The flavor is warming peppers, chocolate, sugary sweet. I think this is overly sweet and thick. I do not think she would help this.

Draft at Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco. Pours a dark black color with a thick, creamy tan head. Oh man. Crazy cinnamon aroma with some chocolate in the background. But the taste? Ah. Maze. Ing! This might be the best stout I have ever had. So complex. Cinnamon rules but there is some deep, dark chocolate notes and a slight spicy finish. And the flavor is overwhelmingly good. I am stunned at how good this is. A+.

Poured into a snifter. Bottled 11/2015. 3.75 A: Black color. One finger of light brown creamy head. Retention is about what youd expect from a beer this big and a few wisps of lacing are left. 4.0 S: Quite sweet overall. It starts and finishes with dark chocolate and cocoa nibs. Slight vegetal pepper from the anchos which meshes well with the cinnamon and vanilla. Just a touch of dark roast coffee with stronger molasses and caramel. Supple roastiness that falls behind the chocolate sweetness. Its a bit more mellow than I was expecting, but its still pretty good. 4.0 T: Despite the nose having just hints of coffee in it, the taste is a borderline coffee bomb. Again the chiles, cinnamon, and vanilla are mellow and complementary. Just a touch of heat is realized. Sweet chocolate would be the dominant flavor if the coffee wasnt so abundant. Moderately sweet throughout but with a roasty bitter finish. Again, this is good, but the flavors arent as impressive as the reputation might suggest. 3.75 M: Lighter heavy body. Good moderate carbonation. Mild-moderate creaminess and a mild heat that builds some momentum as it is consumed. 4.0 D: Its a good beer, but I was expecting quite a bit more. Honestly, it doesnt hold a candle to the regular Speedway Stout that I had a couple nights ago. This mixed with the fact that this costs a ton more and is infinitely harder to get a bottle of makes me okay if I never have this again. ★ 1,470 characters DavoleBomb, Jan 28, 2016
