hazy hay-gold, puffy white head, nice lacing. Light celery, tomato, and glue hints throughout the nose. More glue and thyme up front, heavy wheat and brett C mid with tons of hay and citrus before a sticky lotion finish.

Draft at Perennial. Reddish? Or amber. Some off white foam. A bret aroma that is sharp with so ething like cinnamon. The bret in the flavor is distinct. More sourness. Malts are on the background but are right. Floral comes later. Really intetesting but a bit too infected for my tastes.

This is a cloudy orange brew with a nose dominated by oxidized nutty malt tones. It is not sour but there’s a fruitiness that at least implies a bit of tartness. This is slightly sweet w/ medium to vigorous carbonation, medium bodied w/ earthy bitterness in the finish. This just really isn’t all that tasty or even interesting.

Pour on tap at Black Bottle, clear orange pour with white head lacing well, aroma brought notes of slight yeast, bread, slight red fruits, caramel, toffee, slight oaky, bretty and funky notes. Taste is a mix of sour lemon, earth, tart citrusy fruit, oak, some red fruit into a funky middle, slightly tart, finishing dry, slightly tart.

Bottle pour. Thick frothy head with a golden orange appearance. Sweet yeast aroma. Thin palate with sour aftertaste. Lots of flavor but still feels watered down somehow. Still a balanced beer just not strong enough taste.

750 ml. bottle. It pours a lightly hazy orange color with a nice white head. The aroma is kind of odd for a brett beer. Toasted maltiness with some hints of caramel and dried fruit. Maybe some distant hints of wet hay, but nothing that would lead me to believe this has brett. The flavor is pleasant enough with more dried fruit… mostly aprictots, golden raisins and maybe pineapple. It has some sweetness to it and more body that would be expected. Spicy yeast and high carbonation. The finish has some mild hay-like funk with more sugar and sweet fruit. Not a bad sipper, but a little too sweet and heavy. It’s kind of like an American-ized Tripel that didn’t dry out enough.

HMOG 2014. This was a very nice triple with the Brett addition. Light effervescent fruity, medium high dry, brett, apples, apricot.

1 pint 9 oz. bottle from J&K Liquor. This beer is an interesting shade. I swear it’s almost got a pink or plum tint to it, but I’m not all that great with the crazy off colors. It’s basically orange/red and very cloudy. A tall white head forms. The aroma hits me first with blunt notes like brewer’s yeast pills. Brief decanting lets more nuanced notes come out with a very floral backbone and hints at cheese and bold cloves. The palate is pretty soft which works well here. The pros: mild, but established Brett funk, floral hints, especially in the finish; and a velvety palate. The cons, and none of these are really bad: The clove character is rather aggressive, the aroma could develop more and the malty, sweeter flavors could be dialed back just a bit. Pretty solid beer, but not necessarily special event type stuff.

Great, well-balanced session Belgian ale with bretta. Nicely balanced, and the kind of beer I’d drink all the time if I could find it around for cheap. If only the budweisers of the world would disappear and allow to drink stuff like this as a default. Man. Anyway, bretta doesn’t pop up till finish and there’s a nice underpinning of floral hops here. Tap at Rustico.
