3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Serving: Draft at Fire Works Leesburg. Glad to see these guys made it to my neck of the woods. Oddly grainy nose. Metallic on the tongue with notes of grain and bubble gum. Can’t say the Brett is coming through for me. Slightly earth on the back end with an odd finish. Hmmm... maybe I shouldn’t be so excited these guys are here.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, off-white, fully lasting.
Body is light amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (malt syrup, caramel), lightly yeasty (basement, mold), with notes of decaying fruits (peach/plum/prune), generic (e.g., Brach’s) candies, bile/vomit, cement.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
To be blunt, a very sloppy and stupid beer. To the point this actually makes me kind of angry. The aroma is just plain awful...clumsy rotting fruit notes and artificially flavored candy, and poor malt character to boot. Overly sweet in the mouth and more burning/boozy than 7.3% would suggest (tastes like over 8% to me). Looks nice with a very well-lasting head, but there’s little else positive to say about this. And $13 is absolute hubris on the part of the brewer...if you’re going to overprice your beer, at least respect your customers enough to not release a screwed up batch (I shudder to think they actually wanted the beer to come out like this, but anything’s possible). There’s no second chance at a first impression.
