At fork on Lincoln. The typical sweetness and yeast flavor for a Belgian ale but with some lemon and grassy flavors. Sourness of the Brett was not very notable. Serving. Tap

Great, well-balanced session Belgian ale with bretta. Nicely balanced, and the kind of beer I’d drink all the time if I could find it around for cheap. If only the budweisers of the world would disappear and allow to drink stuff like this as a default. Man. Anyway, bretta doesn’t pop up till finish and there’s a nice underpinning of floral hops here. Tap at Rustico.

I have had limited experience with this brewer, always assuming they were yet another over-hyped, over-priced brewery for me to scroll past - however, since their beers have been on sale at a store I frequent, I have decided to try a couple more recently - the saison was pretty meh - this beer, however, is downright awful, so I guess my initial opinion is confirmed - the beer looks okay - hazy amber, with a fluffy, well-sustained head - nose is syrupy sweet, slightly boozy, with notes of glazed doughnut, yeastiness, baby food, moldy fruit - poorly attenuated - very sweet flavor - thick, sludgy yeast mouthfeel - chalk, moldy peaches, cheese rind - bubblegum and grain husks - clumsy, with mildewy basement character throughout - finish is incredibly hot and boozy for something that is supposedly 7% (it actually burns) - pretty terrible - looks like I’m done with this brewery.

Mostly clear dark gold with a thin white foamy cap. Nose is estery with dusty apricot and crafty stinky cheese. Flavor is wonderful with notes of coriander and apricot, a little dusty Belgian yeast, and a clean off-dry light fruity finish, of a Belgian variety. Very smooth and delightful.

Draft at railroad street. Pours clear copper with a small white head that dissipates quickly to a film. The aroma is fairly funky, peppery, yeasty. The taste is dry, sweet, caramel, fruitiness kicks in late, a bit funky.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample from 75 cl. bottle. Hazy, golden-amber with a small, white head. Sweet aroma with fruits, caramel malts, yeasts - almost hefeweizen-like with banana and spices. Taste is light sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture. Finishes dry and herbal with fruits. Unfortunately, no sign of the bretts.

Bottle, 02/03/2014. Pours dark orange amber, medium white head rests to a nice haze on the surface, medium ring of lacing, sparkling. Aroma is sweet toasted cereal grains, canned pear, apple, light brett, fruity hops. Taste of bread, fruity Belgian yeast, bananas, generic white fruits, mild spices and hop bitterness, touch of brett. Medium body. Fairly straightforward Belgian style ale, alright.
