It poured a dark brown color with a small white head. The aroma was totally chocolate, but not overwhelming. The taste was all chocolate with a little maltiness in the background. Not a bod chocolate ale.

Dark brown. Loads of creamy milk chocolate (who would have guessed)...almost to the point of it being a syrup (hence the low overall relative to taste). No Delicious.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: Draft at Ginger Man, 4/12/13
Aroma: The nose, as anyone would guess, it full of chocolate, and it has some roasted hints too
Appearance: This beer pours an amber-brown color with a beige head and some light lace
Flavor: Tastes extremely sweet, the chocolate sweetness dominates, the roast is minimal
Palate: This one has a smooth creamy feel to, and it doesn’t really have a beer-like mouthfeel
This is pretty much a chocolate drink masquerading as a beer. It’s interesting, and I think it would make for a nice dessert drink, but it is way too sweet for me to drink more than a couple ounces of or drink regularly.

Poured from tap a murky amber-brown with a khacki head. Aroma of bakers chocolate, biscuit, and slight hop. The bitter cocoa takes over with a slight bit of malt on the back of the palate.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Bailey’s Range. This is the new Bailey’s Chocolate Ale, replacing the old one brewed by O’Fallon. Perennial has taken the reins. Not sure what drove the change, but the Bailey restaurant family’s commitment to STL beer is pretty much unparalleled. This one pours a mostly clear brown with some amber highlights and a small beige head. The aroma shows chocolate immediately, with cream, brown sugar, nuts, toast, and a bit of coffee. The flavor follows almost the same line, without much roastiness but some toast and caramel. Light-medium bodied, with a sweet, toasty mouthfeel and smooth carbonation. Nice chocolate ale. A welcome change.
