750 ml. bottle sampled @ Yarric’s house warming. To quote JorisPPAttyn: “tasted in less than ideal circumstances” Thanks to M. vermeersch! Black with little mocha head. Nose is umami with underneath some good quality roasted coffee, herbal, thinned, low milk chocolate. Taste is thinned low herbal soy sauce upfront, messy herbal milk chocolate & quality roasted coffee in the back. Thinned out body. Not an ideal sample, I will reserve a definitive opinion & I will rate mildly. Hopefully I will come across a better sample in the future.

750, capped. Thanks, S! Pours an opaque matte black with a dense and creamy dark tan head that sticks around for quite a while. Big heavy dark chocolate, coffee, and bourbon nose. Creamy thick heavy body with sluggish carb. Earthy, roasty mid palate, showing dark chocolate, coffee, and bourbon. Long earthy finish Wonderful impy.

Bottle from Keir, thanks man! Appearance is jet black with a thin layer of mocha head. Aroma is very rich, with vanilla, graham crackers, chocolate cake, and a hint of coffee. Taste is very sprit forward with lots of vanilla, oak, and chocolate. Full bodied, decent carb. This version really took on the characteristics of the barrel, so much so that the rich coffee character from the base beer is hard to pick up. Still very good, but I like the original a touch more.

Draft. Black beer with a brown head. Chocolate and light bourbon aroma. Bourbon and chocolate flavor with light licorice. Medium-plus bodied. Bourbon and toffee lingers with light chocolate and light coffee.

Fantastic French roast aroma great stout imperial characteristics in mouthfeel and coffe taste. Rich big foamy head. Excellent flavor. Some alcohol heat that added to the whole experience. Love it.

On tap at Perennial, pours pitch black with a dark brown head and lacing in the glass, the aroma was of heavy bourbon, oak and vanilla with a touch of the coffee and chocolate coming through, the flavor has a big bourbon front end with coffee again showing in the finish, tastes bigger than 10.5% to me.
