75cl, bottled 5/2014, no wax, as Perennial Sump (... aged in whiskey barrels), new exclusive American brew Anno 2013, with coffee, thx alot to Secret Santa!, very complex Stout, roasted/woody/sweet and slightly alcoholic/fruity, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, small head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Sampled at a STL tasting - Pours very dark brown with a burnt orange head. The aroma has smooth roast, caramel, coffee, vanilla and mild oak. It has a medium / full body that has smooth carbonation. The flavor starts off with coffee, bitter roast, chocolate and some licorice. The finish really highlights the coffee and licorice aspects. This is good, but a bit more coffee heavy than I prefer (well, it is a coffee stout and all).

From a bottle at the Brewery
Pours basically black with and espresso swirl head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is liquor barrel like... one sniff I get Bourbon the next is more Brandy, Iím guessing itís Bourbon barrel aged, but thatís just a guess mydudes. Itís defiantly got some vanilla and a bunch of coffee character to it,

The flavor is sweet and fudge, itís boozy and rich with a bunch of coffee character, a nice roastiness and some bourbon.

The palate is huge on this one.

One thing I will say is that of the three Sump varieties I tried this one had the least amount of coffee character to it.

At RBSG GT: Pours a deep brown that is near opaque with a small fading head but oily legs. So after the greatness that was the Kyoto and the disappointment that is regular Sump what would this bring? Well the barrel is noticeable... oaky, boozy, tannic. The coffee seems old however and it is a bit cardboard toned. The flavor profile is much more rounded that basic Sump with more earthy notes and smoother coffee influence (but still nothing like the Kyoto). A bit of dark chocolate and dark fruit here and there. The mouth feel is like the others, thinned out by the java, ashy and dry. I would clearly put this in the middle of the 3 versions I had. Good but not great.

Sampled from the bottle at the brewery. Pours near black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of barrel, roasted malts and sweet chocolate with dark grains backing. Flavor has chocolate and coffee with a decent amount of dark grain and a bit of barrel.
