A Pacific Northwest American red ale meets the spicy yeast of Belgium. Our Fresh Hop beer takes the grain bill and hops from an American red ale and melds them with over four pounds per barrel of Japanese Sorachi Ace fresh hops, and then ferments with our slightly fruity, slightly spicy Hommel Bier saison yeast strain. Dry, hoppy and very sessionable. 5.2 percent ABV. 51 IBU.

Goblet at Fountainhead, during the "It Might Get Wet" fresh hop draft event. A new brewery is always nice to try. In this case, it’s from a former Half Acre brewer, Phil Wymore (of Magnus, Ginger Twin, Big Hugs, and Double Daisy fame). Small 10 oz. goblet or orangey saison, slightly hazy, though it could still be seen through in the light. Visible carbonation, thin layer of white foam on the surface that left drippy arcs of Belgian lacing in the glass. Aroma was very herb/botanical driven, with eucalyptus and sage standing out. Definitely a distinct, slightly fruity Belgian yeast present, it was described as Brett, though I wouldn’t have pinpointed it in the nose (not funky or farmy at all, more of a fruity strain). Taste was similarly fruity and herbal, woody lemon tea notes from the Sorachi Ace, more eucalyptus, some mild fruity tartness a la Fantome. Clean and effervescent, somewhat light bodied with a nice complexity from the herbs, fresh hops, and yeast. A great start from Perennial, can’t wait to try more of their beers.

Tap at brewery-pours clear birght copper hue with a small soapy white head. nose is bigtime dank pot-hops and lots of them! marijuana hop flavors dominate the flavors. the body of the beer is full and slick. lots of hop bitterness here for this style. for a low alcohol beer, this definately strikes a chord with me in terms of quality, unique-ness and overall complexity. A great sessionable saison that has lots of character-more breweries need to be doing this. Fantastic!

growler... light bright golden copper, a bit or orange, really good carbonation for a growler, light toppe head, thin cap, great lace... the aroma is very nice, lots of fruit, banana, yeast, a bit spicy... the taste is very balanced, the sorachi hops really come through, floral, spicy, quite enjoyable

Had this at Perennial. This arrived in a nice glass and was clear mid brown. A small off white head. A nice nose of fresh Hops and some barnyard. Hops arevthe first thing tasted and they are dry, grasdy, and sticky. The hops almost out guns the saison but not quite. I find thid hop to be not to my liking but the beer survives it. This is still nice but a different hop would help.

Tap at tasting room. Pour is deep slightly hazy red / reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma is light sweet rye-like malt with a notable pine hop presence and a touch of hay and earth. Really smells more like a red IPA than a saison. Hop presence is dominant aroma. Flavor is lightly spicy with a clean but very present pine hop flavor. Also light hints of earth but the hops are the star here. Very tasty, not much saison about it, but really good.

Sample from the Augusta beer fest. Going off notes. Poured a dark orange, amber color with a decent two finger white head. Aroma was very citrusy, lemon, grass and hops. Flavor was spicy, with much of the same citrus flavors. High carbonation. Spicy finish. A good beer.

Pours hazy amber with a soapy white head. The aroma has lemon, tropical fruits, funky hoppiness and saison yeastiness. Medium lush body with soft gentle carbonation. The flavor starts much like the aroma with lots of peppery phenolic spice, mineral traits, some toast and a bit of cracker. The finish has lots of smooth lemony hops, spice and mild plastic traits. Quite good.

It poured an orangish golden color with a white head. The aroma was of blegian yeast, grass and a little bit of lemon. The flavor was quite a bit of cloves with a nice amount of orange fruitiness. Just a hint of butterscotch. A very good Saison.

On draft at schlaflys fresh hop festival. Pours reddish orange with a nice white head. Aroma is amber malts, fresh hops, and citrus. Flavor is citrus peel, malty, spicy and dry. Has a nice bitter mouthfeel. Medium bodied and medium carbonation.

Draft at the 2011 Fresh Hop Festival at Schlafly Bottleworks. Pours a semi-cloudy orange-amber color that probably leans a little closer to the reddish side than golden, with a small off-white head. Nice fresh hop aroma with lots of citrus peel and spices along with amber malts. Flavor follows suit for the most part- spicy, dry, malty, and citrusy. Lingering citrusy hops. Light-medium bodied with medium carbonation and a citrusy, bitter mouthfeel. Doesn’t strike me the way a saison normally would, as the hops really lead the way. Very nice.
