4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Tasted at Jason’s anti-Hombrew-Club gathering, thanks for sharing Dan! It poured an opaque black colour, like used motor oil, with everlasting brown foam and lace. Excellent Imperial Stout characteristics: malty, bready, toasty, roasty enhanced by Sump-roasted Colombian coffee beans which enhanced the nutty, chocolatey, black cherry and plum-like tartness, and red wine grape tannins. Big but balanced. Full-bodied with low carbonation, well-rounded chewy mouthfeel, with lingering bittersweet complex aftertastes. Mesmerizingly delicious, every bit as good as everyone claimed, one of those rare times when something truly lives up to its hype. This beer is a sublime combination of all the best aspects of coffee with all the best aspects of beer. I take that back, even if you dislike coffee and beer, I bet you’d enjoy this experience. CRAZY GOOD.

This beer here, this beer I had @ the Grand Tasting... Compliments of phaleslu of course.
I enter it now as a bit of a mile marker for Missouri bumping it’s self into #4 in my most rated states list. Time to move down to #5 Michigan!
Pours pretty darn black with a very small head.
The aroma is very coffee forward with loads of dark chocolate. Sweet but still restrained, roasty and aromatic.
The flavor is very big, chocolaty with lots & lots of coffe. The beer is plenty sweet, but well balanced by a nice bitterness throughout. It does suffer mildly from the coffe stout/bell pepper thing, but not nearly as badly as many others... plus that sorta thing doesn’t really bug me that bad. Roasty, coffee forward, & delightful.

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Black pour with a finger of khaki foam. Tons of coffee, roasted malt, and cocoa powder. Nice spiciness to the coffee. A touch of vanilla and hazelnut. Slight blueberry. Flavor has a good earthiness to it and tons of spicy, nutty coffee. Hints of dried dark fruit, lots of roast, and a fair amount of dark chocolate. Nice beer.

Almost as good as BCS coffee stout, and that's high praise. Perennial is blowing up. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very black! Very coffee! Very wow! Seriously though, this is a great coffee stout. It tastes and smells like cold fresh coffee, which was totally the aim I am sure. It looks great in the glass and has just a fantastic creamy texture. It is definitely one dimensional but is leaps and bounds better than the barrel age versions of this stuff. If you like coffee, you really have to try this stuff.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Backlogged rating and this is prime chance to enter it: Pours near opaque with a oily legs and a fading head. Big cold pressed coffee overtones, toasted, chocolate, and caramel malts along with some aromatic pipe tobacco. The taste is heavy of the coffee but seems a little "instant" to me. Good malt without being sweet. Oily but thin (as are many coffee stouts), a tad under-carbonated too. Honestly I do not get any hype on this, I have many (including my own) Java Imperial Stouts better than this.

Sampled at Grand Tasting during RBSG. Pours a black color with off white head. Nice coffee nose. Coffee, bitter grounds, roasty flavors. Doesn’t measure up to the barrel aged versions but pretty tasty.
