Collaboration with Hopleaf! We started by brewing a traditional German Berlinerweiss—which Napolean’s men called the Champagne of the North—then tweaked it with a homemade tea blend to impart a slight apricot hue and botanical aromatics.

Tap at Mikkeller Bar. Clear golden with a small white head. Floral and earthy tea and hop aromas. Nice flavor with sweet caramel and tea with honey and a hoppy finish. Smooth on the mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Drinkable.

On tap at Birch Bar Norfolk, VA for Zwanze ’14, pours cloudy pale orange with 2 finger head. Nose is fruity tropical tea, mango, peach, kumquat, slight tartness and soggy grain. Taste is similar with a definite tea influence, low tart, some pleasant tropical fruit notes and light citrus mix with restrained grainy malt. Finish is low tartness, round herbal fruity melon, mango, peach, various fruits and some notes of stonefruit. Simple but nice.

Bottle from unknown via Justin D. Pours a slightly cloudy orange straw, decent amount of head, yeast and fruity qualities to aroma. Body very lively an dry, lots of fruit at finish. Medium tart, very light. Decent but not amazing.

Poured a hazy light amber orange color with aromas of light wheat, some tart lemon, a touch of fruit, and some tea. Flavors were light tart wheat, a touch of fruit, and some lemon peel. Solid berliner, glad I have another bottle.

On tap at Powder Keg poured a hazy orange amber with a small lasting white head. Aromas of caramel, tea, citrus and straw. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of tea, lemon and straw with a crisp dry lingering lemon tea finish.

I’ve had this beer on draft a few times now. It’s a little different every time. Interesting. The beer is a light pink color with a thin, off-white collar. Aromas of grassy funk, herbal tea, peach, peach skin, kombucha. Moderate tartness with stone fruit and a mild earthiness. Some floral notes with a hint of berries. The finish offers a light puckering sensation with a moderate acetic quality. Complex and enjoyable. The peach character was more prominent the fist time I had this and nearly absent on the second occasion. A fun beer to drink, and definitely worth a try.

Pint on tap at Max’s. Cloudy golden with a lasting disc of foam. Nose is watery lemon and maybe some touches of caramel, citrus and herb. Taste is middle-of-the-road: toast, caramel, some sharp citrus and a finish of Saltine cracker. Looked for some tea but never got it. Light-medium body is refreshing and crisp with medium-high carbonation.
