COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration with Hopleaf! We started by brewing a traditional German Berlinerweiss—which Napolean’s men called the Champagne of the North—then tweaked it with a homemade tea blend to impart a slight apricot hue and botanical aromatics.

750 mL bottle. Pours a hazy pinkish color, medium whitish head, decent retention. Normally I’d say beer should never be pink, but this gets it’s color from actual fruit and doesn’t taste like Kool-Aid, so I’ll let the pink thing slide. Nose is funky yeast, acidic and fruity (berries, sour apples and quince). Mouth is tart and fruity (noticing a pattern here?), creamy mouth feel, then a sweetness (which is probably more a perceived reaction by my tastebuds attempting to counter the sour acidic nature), berries, green apple, faint guava, green mango, grass, bread dough, subtle hop bitterness underlying. Corbin at Willowbrook Binny’s was quite amped about this one and recommended it to me, and while I’m not a huge Berlinerweisse fan (or much of a Perennial fan to be honest), I’m glad I went with his suggestion. Very nice.

ours a cloudy medium orange with a loose and fizzy whitish head that goes away. Mild mango and apricot nose. Creamy medium body with bright lively carbonation. Mango and apricots on the mid palate. Refreshing and light, but very subdued in the flavors and aromatics.

Pours from the bottle with a pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a light amber color, with a hazed, paler version when held up to the light. Fruity smelling, even spicy like a tea character, as well as a bit of grassy, herbal character. A bit citrusy, tart / sweet berry notes.

Quite tart at first, but my palate adjusts to it fairly quickly. The body is fairly light, and there is a prickly carbonation here that is a fizzy. The finish has a citrusy, spicy, tea like note that is a bit astringent as well. Flavors of apricot perhaps, the fruitiness melds with tartness quite well. This has an interesting aftertaste to it, that tea like note, but I am not sure it is actually from a tear or not

. Interesting, and not totally in a bad way either.

Tap at Sidedoor. Unfiltered orange-tan. Big steady white head. Big sour lactic tones. Fruity sour tones. Optimum US Berliner. Nice cheesy lacto tones. Pretty great, I don’t get much tea character at all.
