Collaboration with Hopleaf! We started by brewing a traditional German Berlinerweiss—which Napolean’s men called the Champagne of the North—then tweaked it with a homemade tea blend to impart a slight apricot hue and botanical aromatics.

Draft at Memphis Taproom. Pours a cloudy amber-orange with some white head and lace. Notes of lemon, wheat, light mango and stone fruit. Mild tartness for the style.

I’ve had this beer on draft a few times now. It’s a little different every time. Interesting. The beer is a light pink color with a thin, off-white collar. Aromas of grassy funk, herbal tea, peach, peach skin, kombucha. Moderate tartness with stone fruit and a mild earthiness. Some floral notes with a hint of berries. The finish offers a light puckering sensation with a moderate acetic quality. Complex and enjoyable. The peach character was more prominent the fist time I had this and nearly absent on the second occasion. A fun beer to drink, and definitely worth a try.

Pint on tap at Max’s. Cloudy golden with a lasting disc of foam. Nose is watery lemon and maybe some touches of caramel, citrus and herb. Taste is middle-of-the-road: toast, caramel, some sharp citrus and a finish of Saltine cracker. Looked for some tea but never got it. Light-medium body is refreshing and crisp with medium-high carbonation.

Pours darker amber with an apricot hue as described, and a small beige ring as a head. Aroma is a bit light bringing the wheaty yeast forward and some light tartness. Flavor has the tart signature of a Berliner blended well with some tropical fruit and even suggestions of apricot. The ending is not too dry and not puckering at all.

Draft at ChurchKey. Hazy peach colored pour, decently sized white bubbly head. Nose and flavor are very pleasant, with peach and pineapple, earthy black tea, honey, lemon, and tart berliner funk. Clean and quenching. Not complex, but great for July in DC.

On tap @ sidedoor Chicago. Pours a nice bright orange / gold with middling white head. Aroma of apricot, tart kiwi, lime, wheat, funk, floral & aromatic English tea. Flavor is much of the same, light and bright mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Really refreshing.

On tap Links Taproom in Chicago. Tart is the keyword here. Smells like a slightly more herbal version of Blue Moon. Looks kind of like Blue Moon as well with a little more cloudy orange. However, the taste is much more crisp, tart, and floral than your average Wheat beer. Super refreshing and definitely awakens the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lots of sourish tropical fruits here. Pours pink murky with OK head and lacing. Finished medium sour. Hibiscus and some other fruits I can’t pick out. Bottle thanks to ajax25g.
