Collaboration with Hopleaf! We started by brewing a traditional German Berlinerweiss—which Napolean’s men called the Champagne of the North—then tweaked it with a homemade tea blend to impart a slight apricot hue and botanical aromatics.

This is now the weirdest tasting beer I’ve ever had. It is like a tart apricot tea beer. Has a fruity yeast aroma, foamy head, and pinkish gold clear color. A must try if you like unusual tart or sour beers.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy pink with a white head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has notes of earthy grapefruit and tea with light fruits and light wheat underlying. Flavor has a tea and tart grapefruit note with a hint of earthy grain and funk backing.

Draft at the Bridge. Pours light yellow with a thin white head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Solid sour notes on the nose. Big tart and sour notes on the tongue. There’s almost a creaminess on the mouthfeel. Finishes clean. I get a bit of the tea on the finish. Certainly my favorite from these guys so far.

Draft from the taproom. Hazy, slightly orange-tinted light gold pour. Nose of lemony wheat and tropical fruits. Taste adds a lovely tartness and a bit of a tea-like quality. Wish I would have had about 4 pints of this wonderfully refreshing beer.

Glass at Memphis with some brahs. Hazy orange pour with medium to large white head, with great lacing. Aromas and taste are belgian fruit, crisp yeast, lemons, light mango. Not getting much papaya. A little restrained for a berliner, wish there was more yeasty sour funk yo. Pretty solid overall. More funk came out as it warmed. Moved it up a couple notches.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2014 Draft on tap at Hop Leaf (Chicago, IL). First time in in awhile. Saw this was on, decided a trip was in order. Pours a orange gold hue, firmly hazed and some dulled glow to it. Not dark, but hazy. A frothy small whitish head sits atop, dies to a mellow layer, loose ring lacing as we press on. Aromas are tart and woody, lemon meets gentle fruit, citrus, and lemon. Gentle lactic twang, mellow bread and straw. Some woody, earthy tea elements are plesant, unique, but kinda muddle the tart lactic edge. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a touch sweeter and tamer than anticipated. Lemony lactic edge is mellow, touches of yogurt, lemon. Touch of peach, bready malts and straw. A bit cereal, some gentle carbonation tickles and lightens the load on the palate. Middle is a bit more sour, lemons meet orange, some gentle woody spice comes into the backend. A bit more dry, lighter. Finish is crisp, dry, a bit tart with lingering fruit, peach and lemon. Solid. Firm tartness on re-evaluation over RBSG 2014 Weekend. Could drink this for a long time. Upped aroma 1, taste 1, palate 1, overall 1 for a 4 pt swing.

Sampled at Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival 2013 - I really dug this one. Pours light yellow with a hint of orange and a small white head. The aroma has light malt, a hint of tea and some mushiness. It has a light body that is fairly smooth and has moderate sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with sharp acidic tartness, spiciness and some herbal notes that are probably the tea, but it comes across very floral. The finish has some tropical fruit and tartness. This was a winner of the fest for me.

Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Aroma of sour wheat, apples, tea and citrus. Taste is very tart, apple cider, citrus, tea and spices. Nice Berliner, cool dynamic with the tea addition.

On tap at Powder Keg poured a hazy orange amber with a small lasting white head. Aromas of caramel, tea, citrus and straw. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of tea, lemon and straw with a crisp dry lingering lemon tea finish.
