3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy - almost opaque - dark brown with a smallish, beige head. Quite some charred wood in the nose combined with toast and burned caramel. Rich, sweet body, heavy caramel and again a fairly massive smoky note - very untraditional for the style. Some warming alcohol in the finish. 130913

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013, 10/08/13.
Dark chestnut/mahogony brown with a thin light tan covering.
Nose is light fart, toffee, sugars, whiff of smoke, woody notes.

Medium bodied for 10%, moderate carbonation, dry finish.
Not unpleasant but not a barley wine I’d bother revisiting, lacks depth for the ABV.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared at ChrisO’s pre-GBBF 2013 Shindig. Cloudy chestnut brown colour, thin white head. Nose is damp, musty, not right. Taste is a lot better. Aged wood, barbecued meat, smokey maple wood, caramel. Big bold flavours and pungent, a little too potent for my palate. Dodgy smell.
