Brown pour, tan head. Flavors of brown sugar, figs, dates, bruleed sugar, very light hops, sugar cookies. Pretty good...although the ratings may show that this one isnt holding up so well.

750 from Capone’s. Pours thick and muddy brown with minimal head. Nose was big figgy and raisiny fruit, earthy nutty brown sugar, caramel, toffee. Tastes fruity, with a big fig and prune flavor, some mid-palate tartness, some earthy brown sugar, and a fruity tart finish.

Tap @ Perennial. Pours a deep brown appearance with a light brown head. Anise, raisin, plum, caramel aroma. Very fruity (plum, dark grape, fig), somewhat sweet but well balanced, caramel, brown sugar flavor. Definitely a solid brew.
2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 BBB63 (5406) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - APR 24, 2013
My second 750ml bottle and this one served in my Big Arse Tripel Karmeliet tulip: Mahagany hued with a mostly lasting initial huge head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of raisins, toffee, cotton candy, brown sugar, roast, sour cherries and some acetic notes along with tobacco and earthy notes. Hints of flowers, dill, and cardamom as well. The taste is a hodgepodge of sweet, sour and spice more like a BAD BELGIAN STRONG ale than a Barleywine (English or American). This is cloy sweet with a infected midsection and a fakes spicy finish. DRAIN POUR. Two bottles and the same thing. Utter waste of monies like most of the big bottle offerings from this brewery.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 deyholla (4780) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - APR 5, 2013
Bottle. Pours a hazy deep brown with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of green apple and toffee with a hint of backing roast and nuttiness. Flavor is similar with some green apple and toffee with the finish having notes of toast, roast and nuttiness.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Strykzone (3810) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 20, 2012
Dampled at an esbls tasting. Dark brown with red. Small ring. A rich aroma of drk fruit, spices. So much hoing on it is fifficult to discern it all. The flavor is even, ore complex. Chocolate, heat, whiskey, dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar, gentle citrus hops. Such a challenging beer. This is one of those beers that every sip brings new flavors. Everything about this is good.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 vyvvy (3222) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - DEC 27, 2012
Pours very dark brown with a dense tan head. The aroma is very bready and has dark toffee, rich apple, very toasty malt, anise, spice, cream vanilla and earthy English yeast. It has a thick rich body with a mild amount of carbonation. The flavor starts off with dark toffee, bread, licorice, brown sugar, earthy yeast and prevalent alcohol. The finish is sweeter and shows more alcohol, dates and figs. This is good but a bit rich for my tastes these days.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 TheEpeeist (2817) - Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 7, 2013
25.4 oz bottle. Deep purple brown with a coating crema head. Nose is strawberry preserves, caramel, raisin, banana and wood. Medium body with zesty, biting carb. Hot with sticky lips. Taste is kind of like it smells but berry note is more earthy with a bitter, grassy finish. Quite boozy, at times medicinal; different, good.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 theisti (2816) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - JAN 28, 2013
12 oz goblet / tulip draft at Martin City Brewing Company in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a murky dark brown, with a limited dark khaki head. The aroma is warming toffee, dark fruit, caramel malt sweetness and a warming hint of alcohol in the back. Nice nose. The taste is real big on the toffee and caramel, quite full flavor, transitioning to the plum fruit in the back. Alcohol is present, though primarily in the long malty finish. The palate is heavy to medium bodied, low carbonation level, and the lingering sweet warming booze finish. Nice Barley Wine, I have enjoyed these Perennial beers so far.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 thegreenrooster (2804) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 26, 2013
Pour is a dark red with a small head. Aroma is sweet molasses malt with some toffee and alcohol. Flavor is a nice caramel malt with some earthyness and a big dose of alcohol. Very sweet and malt forward and a way big alcohol presence. This is a beer to lay down for a year or two. Right now it is a huge malt bomb with a lot of alcohol.
