3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours cloudy mahogany brown with a small light tan head. The nose is toasty, toffee, wood, spice, light smoke, brown bread and varnish. The taste is caramel, toffee, raisin, sultana, wood, light charred wood, earth, decent bitterness, cocoa and light alcohol warmth. Full body and moderate carbonation. A touch sweet, but well put together. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Dark brown with an off white head. Lots of dark fruit in the nose with a hint of chocolate. Taste is the same and packs a strong alcoholic punch. Palate is round and full. This is a great winter warmer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Chris O’s pre-GBBF shindig, 2013. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Coconut, chocolate and caramel aroma. Quite an earthy taste. Bit of caramel and seemingly cucumber(??) in there. I like this.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared at ChrisO’s pre-GBBF 2013 Shindig. Cloudy chestnut brown colour, thin white head. Nose is damp, musty, not right. Taste is a lot better. Aged wood, barbecued meat, smokey maple wood, caramel. Big bold flavours and pungent, a little too potent for my palate. Dodgy smell.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with friends. While I’ve enjoyed everything from Perennial so far this would have to be my least favorite. It sort of reminded me of burn tree bark, if that makes sense. I wanted to enjoy it but nothing really popped out at me and kept my attention.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by phaleslu. Hazy dark brown / red color. Nice looking color. Little thin khaki head, but lots of loose dots of lace. Lots of cherry, dark fruit, cough drop in the aroma. Bigger body. Very lightly sticky texture. Moderate sweet taste. Light bitter. Light alcohol bite. Light wood. Satisfying barley wine.. Big flavor to it; manages to not be cloying-sweet

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle from Randall’s. Pours a hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Notes of caramel, sweet bread, dates, brown sugar, chocolate, raisins, pecans, and maple. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Big and sweet. Better than most English-style barley wines I’ve had.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark unclear amber with a big creamy beige head. Aroma brings smooth sweet barleywine malts. This is a super well balanced barleywine. It has a nice blend of winter spices, subtle, but mainly a smooth lightly sweetened barleywine malt backbone, not overbearing, with smooth light chocolatey malt caramel flavors.
