COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vermilion is a big, rich English style Barleywine that, as its name suggests, has tints of ruby around the edges of its brown body, with a toffee, caramel, toasted pecan sweetness that is kept in balance with a smooth, alcohol warmth, and slightly fruity American hop note. It may be enjoyed right away, or allowed to age in the bottle.

750 ml bottle from Randall’s. Pours a hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Notes of caramel, sweet bread, dates, brown sugar, chocolate, raisins, pecans, and maple. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Big and sweet. Better than most English-style barley wines I’ve had.

Bottle. Pours deep reddish amber with a medium beige head. The aroma is deep malty with notes of marmalade, ripe fruits, toasted caramel and oak. The flavor is high malty and has notes of oak, ripe fruit, some smoke and has a long deep malty finish. Great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by phaleslu. Hazy dark brown / red color. Nice looking color. Little thin khaki head, but lots of loose dots of lace. Lots of cherry, dark fruit, cough drop in the aroma. Bigger body. Very lightly sticky texture. Moderate sweet taste. Light bitter. Light alcohol bite. Light wood. Satisfying barley wine.. Big flavor to it; manages to not be cloying-sweet

Pour on tap at Black Bottle, dark brownish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, dark fruit, hints of pecan, nuts, slight booze into brown sugar, pretty nice. Taste is a mix of nuts, pecans, toffee, caramel, slight booze into brown sugar, finishing sweet. Pretty tasty for what it is.

My second 750ml bottle and this one served in my Big Arse Tripel Karmeliet tulip: Mahagany hued with a mostly lasting initial huge head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of raisins, toffee, cotton candy, brown sugar, roast, sour cherries and some acetic notes along with tobacco and earthy notes. Hints of flowers, dill, and cardamom as well. The taste is a hodgepodge of sweet, sour and spice more like a BAD BELGIAN STRONG ale than a Barleywine (English or American). This is cloy sweet with a infected midsection and a fakes spicy finish. DRAIN POUR. Two bottles and the same thing. Utter waste of monies like most of the big bottle offerings from this brewery.

750 ml bottle shared by phaleslu. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a thin off white film. The aroma and flavor had caramel, maple, dark fruits, raisins, sweet, but not overly so, light spices , wood, mild bitterness at the finish. This was pretty tasty and had just enough other things going on to balance the sweetness of the malts.

Dampled at an esbls tasting. Dark brown with red. Small ring. A rich aroma of drk fruit, spices. So much hoing on it is fifficult to discern it all. The flavor is even, ore complex. Chocolate, heat, whiskey, dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar, gentle citrus hops. Such a challenging beer. This is one of those beers that every sip brings new flavors. Everything about this is good.

Bottle @ Chriso’s pre-GBBF Shindig. Brown with a small head. A bit of vanilla and toffee. Notes of licorice. Herbal spiciness. The taste is smokey herbs. Chocolate. Toffee and cocoa. Moderately spicy. Full body, soft carbonation. Not bad.

This one poured a darker orange color with an off white head. Aroma was big caramel, toast, and booze. Flavor was abundantly sweet and malty, not much complexity or balance unfortunately.
