Original. Wasn’t expecting so much hoppiness from a beer brewed with Vanilla. A pleasant surprise. Disappointing head. Gone in about 2 seconds. Would drink again.

Bottle. Clear Amber with medium white head. Lots of aromatic hops, grapefruit, lime, bitter herbs, biscuits, vanilla cookies, tropical fruit candies, cinnamon. Quite sweet going fast into a medium strong bitter finish. Medium bodied. Interesting stuff.

In bottiglia.

Red to amber body and medium beige head. Red fruit, wine like tones, yeast is predominant but a bit rough. Taste is way more punchy and actually way more interesting and tasty too. Full flavour, dark sweetness, rough bread. It’s hard to describe but I dig it! (33cl bottle from Cave à Bulles)

Légèrement orangée, quasi limpide, carbo moyenne, petit collet persistant. Orange, caramel, epices.

Seriously think I have tasted a different beer to other reviews, as this is one of the better French beers I have tasted. It is also definitely not a fruit beer, as styled (although does have rind added to the wort, as with many Belgian/French beers). Pours a cloudy ruby with a decent creamy head but not much lacing. Nose: malt and hoppy fruits - tropical - and a bit of grass Mouth: first up is the biscuity caramel malt, opens up to nice tropical and citrus fruits; limited sweetness and a good balance with the bittering hops. Carbonation perfect for the style. In short, this is a correcting review. I generally find ratebeer very good (I have reviewed on other sites, brew beer and have lived in Belgium for 10 years, so I have an ok palate) but this is a misleading review. Beer in France is usually terrible but this is a really decent beer - I would put it in my top 5 French beers. Santé!

Bottle 330ml.

Clear medium amber orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dusty, moderate hoppy, fruity - berry, moderate yeasty. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, dusty, pale tobacco notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121019]
