Aroma: herbal and malty. Appearance: clear golden color, white head. Taste: medium bitterness (herbs), malty, herbs, quite dry. Palate: low body and high carbonation, herbal finish. Overall: Not so bad German Pils, quite drinkable and not involving.

Bottle 0.5L. Clear golden body with average, frothy, white head, mostly lasting with some lacing. Moderate hoppy (herbal) aroma. Moderate bitter flavour with very light sweetness. Light-to-medium body with watery texture; average carbonation.

33cl bottle from Lidl. A watery lager with not much of a flavour or remarkable taste. But goes ok with a sunny day.

Very basic and decent pils. Taste is clear and grisp. Easy to drink fast and in large quantities. Great after sauna.

This German sounding lager was sold in brown bottles and proudly proclaimed that it met the German Reinheitsgebot 1516 Purity Law. It now has a different label, is in a green bottle, the small print states it is brewed in France (despite the German sounding name) and the reference to Reinheitsgebot has vanished. I’m surprised that as a German company Lidl cannot supply us with decent beer from some of the countries many fine breweries. These comments relate to a bottle purchased at the Maidenhead England store on 6 May 2014

Pours a yellow with minimal white head, aroma reminds me of potatoes, over cooked veg, wax and slight grassy citrus type notes. Taste is bland, dry and mildly bitter. Nothing to get excited about, rather fizzy. Ok on a hot sunny day.
