COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An excellent beer emerges from the great Peroni tradition - PERONI GRAN RISERVA. A prestigious clear double malt beer with an alcohol content of 6.6%: this beer is the result of a careful, scrupulous selection of the most noble qualities of aromatic hops, yeast and a spring variety of distichous barley named "cherie". Ingredients are chosen with great attention and the experience of long-standing brewers.

Looks promising with a dark pour and a tan head. Nasty aroma of stale cheap beer grains and lab alcohol. A little better to drink with some continental hops and caramel sweetness, marred by harsh alcohol. This is basically a malt liquor. Get the normal Peroni instead, or better yet some wine or limoncello.

Bottle from sainsburys. Pours pale yellow with not much head. Aroma is corn, toffee and maple. Taste is sweet and very slightly sour. Prickly carbonation and quite a thin body. Ok.

Duft av humle og malt. Fin gyllen farge. Dekkende hvitt skum. Fin smak av humle, malt og karamell.

Ah well this was an interesting offering, essentially an industrial maibock, something I don't think I've come across before. Pours a fresh bronze-amber color befitting the style, plenty of white head and lacing although recedes quickly. Smell is a bland grainy taste, maybe some sugary caramel malt. The taste is decent, a weak fruity maibock flavor profile, some noble hop bitterness and slight boozy finish. "Macro-bock" in a sense, but pleasantly so. For the inexpensive price point, this is a very good beer, solid body, reasonably tasty, and refreshing.

Not bad, malty with a slight whisky feel and finish. Its just a bit...eh...wha...oh...mmmm. It could just be bloody well better. Slightly metallic. You should give it a go though, nice and strong, looks ok, better than the peroni lager and its a good idea but its missing something that I wish someone could articulate to me better than me. Maybe a little too sour on the after taste. I think most people are reviewing this a little harshly but I can see both points of view. Love it or hate it, I’m on the fence.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2014 330ml bottle poured in a regular glass. I’ve had this beer when travelling to my sister’s house @ Autogrill - Milan area. A: Pours a clear reddish amber color forming a modest white head. Small retentation and almost no lacings S: Sweet caramel in the nose. Candy sugar, malt and bit citrus hops T: Follows the nose: Sweet upfront, caramel, caramel malts, candy sugar, citrus hops. Mild bitter end. Metallic sensation. In overall, a sweet beer M: Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Sweet mouth sensation and a mild bitter aftertaste O: No big deal. As expected from a Italian macro. I would not classify it as a Pale Lager, maybe a Strong Euro Lager but reminds a Bock or a Heller Bock too. But definitely too strong and sweet to a Pale Lager [ BA Review @ 4/21/2012 ]

Dark golden colour with a white head. White bread aroma and plenty of bread-like flavour in the beer. Some red apple fruitiness. Also some mild hops taste but not particularly bitter. Plenty of warmth from the alcohol. Not a bad beer, but not very characterful.
