An excellent beer emerges from the great Peroni tradition - PERONI GRAN RISERVA. A prestigious clear double malt beer with an alcohol content of 6.6%: this beer is the result of a careful, scrupulous selection of the most noble qualities of aromatic hops, yeast and a spring variety of distichous barley named "cherie". Ingredients are chosen with great attention and the experience of long-standing brewers.

Well-known Italian spring bock but apparently available in all seasons. Hazy ochre blonde colour, snow white head; light malt sweetness, citrus accents, pepper, cheese but unfortunately some solvents too. Pale malt sweetness in the mouth, hints of apple, light peppery hop bitterish finish with some badly hidden alcohol. Less appetizing than I had expected.

33cl bottle @ Pizzaexpress Shepherds Bush. Tulip glass. Pours a clear dark golden colour. Very small head, but carbonated. Not much nose. Malty, caramel taste. A strong mass manufactured lager. OK with food, average but drinkable

Bottle at a restaurant in Trastevere, Rome. Artificial smell, bready malty with a ligth caramel aroma. Bready malty and light fruity taste. Noticeable but mild and short bitterness.

Typically lager colour with a thin head. Slightly more flavour than other lagers and more malty than standard Peroni. Very drinkable though not sure it deserves the tag of Gran Reserva.

Golden with a small white head that dissapates quickly. Very syrupy. Almost getting a cotton candy flavour. Like a double lager. Excessively malty.little to no hop aroma. Not overly nice but drinkable
