2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled from bottle. Pours a brilliant pale, yellow-gold with a scattered white head. Azzurro’s aroma is dominated by noble hops (perhaps saaz). Flavor is nicely bitter with a good malt backbone and a subtle noble hop flavor addition. Light-bodied, but not thin, well-carbonated and very refreshing. This could easily accompany any food.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pale attempt at a premium lager. Decent carbonation, but weak and watered down. Sweet corn lingers in the aftertaste. Most disappointing!

a sim rate:
Such a shame that such bad beer can come served with such great food. Italians are obviously too preoccupied with making great food to concentrate on their beer-brewing. This same rate can go for Moretti and most other peronis.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2006 Clear yellow body, white head, a good beer for thirsty palate on a hot Summer day. Not bad for a beer from a hot country.

Bottle marked 5.1% abv BB05/06
Straw coloured. Weak white head. Dusty vacuum cleaner aroma. How do you rate water? There might be a slight grainy aftertaste to this one with sewage undertones. Maybe. Not sure. What might be the reason "brewing" something like this?

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
In the 330 ml bottle at Ben and Jill’s Pre-nup. Light yellow in color with an effervescent head that magically disappears like David Blaine. Like David, this beer has no substance. Very light, very dry, refreshing and wet, but no memorable flavors. I must give it credit for not being skunked.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Served a cold 40*F or so.
This beer has a frothy, three finger thick, almost rocky pale white head that sits atop a body that is brilliantly clear and a pale straw color. The color is about perfect and the head is one of the longest lasting and best ones I have seen on a macro-lager. The aroma is unfortunately lightly struck with a mix of skunk-like and herbal/astringent/ grassy notes standing out the most. Underneath this is a thin, sweet grain character. When this first hits my tongue I get not flavor at all, almost like water, as it starts to flow back past my tongue a sweet grain character comes to the fore. The finish is quite clean, and almost non-existent, there is a bit of grainy astringency and perhaps a hint of bitterness, but these notes are elusive.
The sweet, simple grain maltiness is the dominant note of this beer, it is quite close to drinking water, and is quite devoid of off flavors, which is good for a beer this light, or character for that matter, which is disappointingly true of beers from this genre. What can I say, this is quenching, and quite quaffable if it remains cold, certainly not bad, but devoid of character & life.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I can’t even call this light straw. This is an artificial bright pale yellow colored liquid. Head even seems to have a yellow hue. Lots of grass and a touch of rubber in the aroma, some pale malt and wintergreen does come out at is warms, but what a start. Watery malt with a mild herbal hops. A thin and light pils, that on a hot day would fit the bill. I could imaging imbibing a great deal of this on a very hot day and not getting tired of it, but just to sit back and have a beer, it just doesn’t cut it.
