Brewed from the finest spring planted barley malts, has a unique balanced taste with a delicate aroma arising from the hops of the most exclusive varieties. Young, balanced and sparkling, Nastro Azzurro is the beer for the knowledgeable and demanding consumer.

A friend of mine brought this bottle from Romania. Looks good. The beer starts very normal, but turns very alcoholic in the end. Terrible!

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2008 This has stronger flavour and aroma than many macro lagers, but mostly not in a good way. It is light gold with a big, bubbly white head that dissipates steadily to a wispy head. The aroma is mostly a basic pale-lager smell like Schlitz, etc., but a little stronger, with sharp grain, a metallic hint, and a definite skunky sulphur smell that is not pleasant and I often like so-called "skunky" smells like in nice German pilsners. Thankfully, it tastes better than it smells, again being a stronger-than-usual macro lager taste, but for the first half it has a faint skunky hint and a mild but unpleasant, metallic bitter finish. This tends to go away in the second half, but it also becomes more bland. I could see how someone might like this more than the average macro stuff, because it has more taste, but generally the taste is not great, although it is hardly terrible.

Very pale. Aroma is not spectacular, not very malty or otherwise exciting. Quite bitter flavor, but not in a pleasant way. Unbalanced and watery even as far as lagers go.

Tasted 11/14/07. 12oz bottle. Filtered with a bright golden hue. Finger width of white head. Corny grainy aromas. Sweet bitter and off-dry. Sticky. Light to medium bodied. Sticky and bitter. Sugary skunky. Touch thin. Moderate at best.

Pretty unremarkable, and a bit disappointing actually. Taste is bitter and flat, disappears almost immediately and replaces itself with a strongly undesirable aftertaste.

Bottle. Very light pour with a large white head. Grassy, grainy aroma was pretty strong. Taste is slightly bitter, dry, crisp hops--a little pine, mainly grass. Finish is dry and somewhat bitter. A classic "bad" Euro beer that’s still head and shoulders above US macros. Cheap and abundant in Italy no doubt.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2008 Bottle. Pale yellow color with a medium white head. Aroma with grassy hops and some malt. Flavor has some malt sweetness but is mostly dry with hop bitterness. Light to medium body - quite watery. Nothing very good about this one but it’s not really bad either and the hoppiness is quite pleasant.

Bottle. Expected aroma of pale malt and noble hop. Pale gold color with a respectable white head. Thinnish body with sharp carbonation. The flavor is malt backed with noble hop. The finish is fairly dry and the hop is adequate - say balanced. Decent representative of the style, and much better than American macro versions.
