Appearance: thin white head, mild lacing. Color is pale straw with moderate carbonation present. Aroma: skunk at first (green bottle). Once that subsided, the aroma was fairly pleasant combination of toasted barley malt and grass. Mouthfeel: light, watery and refreshing. Finish is quite dry. Flavor: pleasant combination of sweet barley malt, some grassy flavor and some hop spice.

Tastes like the bottom of the keg that it came from. I’ll drink it if someone gives it to me, I guess, but there are much better macro lagers in Europe.

Der fester weisser Schaum sitzt auf dem klaren goldgelben Bier. Milde fliesst es die Kehle hinunter und ist sanft im Abgang.

Alengrin (1716) - BELGIUM - SEP 6, 2014
The premium version of Peroni, with a medium thick, snow white, moussy, sticky head and pale yellowish blonde colour, cristal clear with very little fizz. When I opened the bottle, a very strong lightstruck effect came out (cat pee alert!) and this is what dominated the aroma for the entire tasting; otherwise weak grainy, corny and mineral-like smell but hard to tell under the sharp, off-putting odour of desintegrating hops. Taste is only slightly better, neutral and thin at first, medium carbo, bit sourish, very light maltiness, the sickly corn I detest so much in a pale lager and a relatively strong grassy hop bitterness in the finish competing with something wry and chemical, even a bit salty and plastic-like; unfortunately the hops seem to lose the battle. Was better from tap in Italy but the lightstruck odour and the wry aftertaste seriously put me off in the bottled version.

Another mass produced lager that tastes like saline solution. Would not buy this beer.

330ml bottle. Pours pale yellow with small, fast retreating head. Aroma of grass and cereal. Slightly better than average.

330 ml can. Pale golden yellow, crystal clear, average fluffy white head which dissipated almost immediately like a soda. Bland but relatively inoffensive nose: sweet malts, some corn, a hint of wet cardboard, perhaps some light grass as well. Artificial bitterness upfront, way too subtle, then quite sweet as expected. Slightly dry and astringent as well. Sirupy, honey like and cloying aftertaste. Average carbonation, light body, slightly creamy texture. Not a drain pour, but it’s a one and done deal for me. Big meh.

Transfer from BA review on 12-11-12- Served on tap in a 20 oz. pilsner glass Appearance-Served a straw colored brew with a one finger pure white head. The head faded almost instantly to give only a light amount of lacing. Smell- The aroma is heaviest of some malt and a light caramel smell. There is a light musty smell as well. Nothing too great. Taste - The taste starts out of a bready nature mixed with a light caramel sweetness. As the taste advances some light grassy flavors come to the tongue. In the end the grassy flavors grow stronger and mix with some paper tastes to leave a rather odd (and not in a good way) flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was below average to average in terms of its thickness with a carbonation level that is very average. About right for the style, but nothing special. Overall –Ah…Nothing really too great. I would pass on this if I were you.

Zarkam (421) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 13, 2014
330ml bottle, clear light yellow colour, small fizzy mostly lasting white head, fair lacing. Light to moderate malty aroma of corn and hay with light grassy and floral hops. Taste is initially light bittersweet and acidic, turning into a lightly bitter finish. Light to medium body, dry mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Slightly above the avereage wine-country lager, nothing too interesting.

Pours clear yellow with a typical buff head. Crisp aroma has a bit of yeast, and is not strong. Malty flavor has a bit of yeast, but is otherwise unremarkable. Mouthfeel is wan and barely fizzy. OK, I wasn’t expecting an equal to a Belgian ale. OK with lunch or at a party.
