Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Mild bready aroma. Some roast in the flavor. Nothing overwhelming about this at all, but it was very drinkable and in this age of high octane brews its nice to have an occasional easy drinker. Palate was clean.

Malt and coffee aroma, a great coffee and chocolate taste, smooth without sacrificing feel... not bad!

On draft, a neat surprise to find at my local bowling alley. Dark and full with a whitish head, and a sweet mocha nose. Classic schwarz character, clean and well executed, and at a decent enough price I won’t mind enjoying a few more.

On tap. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Chocolate, roast, with a light coffee finish.

On tap: The aroma consists of chocolate and light roasted nuts, and some faint black licorice. It pours a dark black with some faint orange highlights MD a small beige head. The flavor starts with chocolate and a hint of caramel. The finish has roasted nuts and faint black licorice. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Tap sample at MBGSF 2013. Poured clear black color with medium tan creamy head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Medium toasted malt and coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium flavor of toasted sweet malt with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Interesting solid brew.

Draft to pint. Looks good for the style; a fairly opaque dark brown with off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells doughy and malty with a bit of hops and mild roast. Tastes like it smells with a nice, clean mouthfeel. A decent lager.

On tap. Black pour, brown around the edges, with a thinner khaki head. Nose involves light roasted notes, some soy, dark fruit, toasted notes, with a light hint of metal. Lightly sweet flavor, pretty bitter, just a touch tart. Medium bodied, quite carbonated, with a dry toasty finish. Not bad.

On tap at FifthThird Ballpark, home of your West Michigan Whitecaps. Nice dark pour with a nice white head. Smells of toasted oats and lager yeast. Taste is roasty and slightly chalky. Palate is a little weak for such a dark beer. Overall a descent beer, I would get it again at the ballpark. Especially in a park full of domestic lagers, although they do have some great craft selections. Get your popcorn here!

Tap. Dirty, like a clear black color with small head. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but this is decent. Pretty smooth.
