Eccola, è lei la birra misteriosa che ho assaggiato dal bicchiere di Kuaska ieri sera.

Rating #619, bottle at Øst-ølsmagning

Reddish brown with an ok head. Aroma of alcohol, caramel, vague berries, random malts. Flavor has berries, probably blackcurrant and raspberries, but it’s hard to tell as the beer is somewhat bland. Elsewise, this is where the similarities with english brewing stops, as the rest of the beer is just bland malts and alcohol like any other ukrainian beer. Maybe there’s a bit of a vinous touch, though. Soft and medium thick palate.

red pour, thin head. Nose: faint sweet malt, slightly fruity, very subtle floral hops. Taste: phenolic, caramel, strong solventy alcohol. Med body, spicy bitterness, medicinal phenols, green earthy aftertaste, cloying sweetness. Quite watery with alcohol upfront.

Pours a dark brown with quickly disappearing head. Has a smell of sweet burnt malts and water. Taste is a slightly syrupy mix of barley malts and fruity sweetener. Just okay.

Rune (4656) - Tromsø, NORWAY - SEP 21, 2009
500ml bottle bought at a supermarket in Odessa and shared with friends at a social gathering up north. Poured a deep, red-brown coloured body topped by a decent off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma. Lactose and dark honey in flavour. All the sweetness is only partial offset by a touch of spicy bitterness to the ending. Medium bodied (Elsas, Skibotn 15.08.2009).

Flaske 0,5l delt med Rune - som hadde den med fra ferietur til Ukraina. Mørk amber på farge. Et lavt, bruntfarget skum. Svakt søtlig honningaroma. Ekstremt søtlig smak med innslag av bær. Ganske ensformig.

Bottle, 6.8%. Clear dark brown colour. Mild caramelly aroma. Good caramelly flavour with a little sweet hop note. Sweet and spicy hops. Quite malty with low bitterness.
