UPDATED: JAN 27, 2015 From Trader Joe’s. Starts OK when it is cold. Tastes like any other pale euro lager. As it warms some stale flavors start to come through. Not fantastic at all. Serving: Can

Pour is a dull blonde with a fizzy white head. Aroma is nothing. Some pale malts I guess. Flavor does have a dry pils malt but nothing shows up after that. Finish is wet paper bag. A meh Dutch lager brewed in Germany. It cost a buck at Trader Joes.

Poured pint can from Trader Joe’s into a nucleated pint glass. Clear light golden color with average white foam which dissipated quickly, leaving little lace. Neutral aroma except for some adjunct corn, but less offensive than most cheap American lagers. I don’t have the metallic complaint other raters have mentioned, either. Flavor was predictable: straw, grain, mild malt, only a hint of hops bitterness. Labelled "A Dutch Style Pilsener" but it’s definitely less hoppy, less pilsener malty, less complex, less dry and less carbonated than classic examples. Not bad for $.99, but there’s so much better beer out there.

16 oz can from Trader Joe’s. Pours golden yellow with a pure white head. Tastes pretty much like most corn filled macro lagers with a touch of extra tin can. Not good at all.

Can: The aroma is very light and consists of hints of apple and grass. It pours a transparent gold with a soapy two finger head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with just a touch of sweet cereal notes. The finish has very light grassiness and a hint of apple. Light bodied with lightly fizzy carbonation. Overall, it’s pretty bland but inoffensive. I’m not sure why this is listed as a Pilsner instead of a Pale Lager.

A Belgian macro I’ve never heard of and picked up at Trader Joe’s, I’m sure this will be great... dark clear gold, big white head, good retention and excellent lacing, really?... the nose is god awful skunk and wet grains... the taste is terrible, sweet grains with chemicals and skunk... pass

Pale Lager Month, installment number four brings us back to canned Dutch beer purchased at Trader Joe’s.... but what’s this? It’s made in Belgium? The beer pours golden with a big white head. The aroma is faint, and what’s there really holds few pleasantries.... Mostly it just smells like wet breakfast cereal. The flavor is about as exciting, more of that breakfast cereal sweetness, some mild crisp hoppiness cuts through but fades away quickly. The best thing about it is that it has a sort of nice mild lingering bitterness. If I didn’t like beer very much I’d be buying this by the case, it’s just a very light very smooth, slightly sweet lager that is really easy to drink.... not to mention it’s cheap. A few days ago I rated Milwaukee’s Best Light; after rating it surprisingly high compared to the average I went and read some ratings on it. Lots of folks with far more ratings under their belt than I said things like "carbonated alcoholic water" I tell you this, in a battle of smooth and boring this would knock the socks off of Milwaukee’s Best Light.

16 oz. can to footed pilsner at home. Pours pale gold, head is light and mostly air. Aroma is hay, no detectable hop signature. Light and drinkable, if I’m going to drink a pale lager then I could do a lot worse than this one.

Pint can from Trader Joe’s in Fairfax VA. Poured a pale golden color with a large white foamy head. Aroma was pale malts, pretty neutral. No skunk thanksThis is drinkable, but it’s pretty bland and boring.

Can: Weak corn aroma. Clear yellow, medium head. Corn flavor. Finishes lightly sweet, grassy, and soapy.
