Aroma of pale malt, grains, faint fruit, light hop. Flavour is malt, light sweet, with a light bitter finish. Not a bad Kolsch.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Less known Kölsch made in Monheim near Cologne. Snow white, delicate, sticky, more or less stable head, pure golden blonde colour, clear. Dryish pale malt aroma, light wheat sourishness, young cheese, lemon, iron. Clean and crisp pale malts in the mouth, grainy, subtle wheat, minerals, dry profile with late, bit peppery but relatively long-lasting hop bitterishness in the end. Not the best of it style but thirst-quenching and enjoyable nonetheless.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Peter’s. Clear pale gold pour with creamy white head. Aroma is grainy, light honey notes, sweeter side of things not too much grass. Taste is really mellow, nice light honey sweetness, cereals, smoother and cleaner than Sion. Palate is light, light-med carbonation, very easy.

On tap at Peter’s Brauhaus in Koln. Golden, clear with a bubbly-foam head. Malty, dry, bitter aftertaste, with a hint of bock. A bit ’dunkel’ in flavour but pale. Light and indistinct hoppy aroma. A fair Kolsch.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Peters Brauhaus, Koln, Saturday 29th March 2014 Amongst the sea of Kolsch that we found ourselves immersed in, in Koln this was very much in that middle ground, ok it poured nice, clear gold, large attractive white head but it was just a little too sweet and hoppiness and bitter bite quite blunted. Fine but the likes of Paffgen and Braustelle were so much better. A6 A5 T6 P3 Ov12 3.2
