3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
swingtop bottle from PlanB.
clear dark yellow, smooth large white head, that disappears rather fast.
nice flowery, faint citrussy, breadish and sweet malty aroma.
flavor is quite sweet , somewhat malty, faint bitterness towards the end. Quite a bitter-sweet sensation. hops are more flowery than bitter, yet don’t really stand out unless You look for them. If You like sweeter beers, then high drinkabillity, if not - then avoid.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at brewpub in Cologne. First Kolsch of the day
Appearance : Clear yellow with foamy head.
Aroma : Quite malty with herbal hops. Quite subtle overall.
Taste : Nice malt, a little bit citrusy. Finish is a little bit bitter with nice malt and nice herbal hops. Perfect carbonation. Finish is a bit citrusy.
Overall : Quite subtle and straightforward but so drinkable, refreshing and clean. Very unique. Right there I understood what Kolsch was all about. The perfect light, clean and drinkable beer. Huge thanks to kolschtrinker for showing us around the best Kolsch brewpubs.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Weak aroma of citrusy grain with some spicy apple accents. Clear apple juice appearance with a white foam that drops to leave no cover. Gentle malty flavour with a little grain and some delicate fruity notes that are accompanied by a mild acidity as well as a touch of sulfur. Light body, medium carbonation, clean finish. Quaffable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Pours light gold with a white head. Pale malty aroma with a bit of a grainy note. The flavor is well balanced with clean pale malts and light grassy hops. Nice.

330 ml bottle (One Pint Pub, Helsinki, Kölsch Days 2010)
light malty aroma. crisp carbonation. papery retronasals. slightly mushroomy body. this brewery clearly has quality issues, as the first one I ordered the barman binned just by looking at its complete lack of head. Pleasant and simple quaffer, but with no interesting aspects. Pleasant milky body, and crisp biting hoppy finish save it for the doldrums.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the brewhouse. Pours bright gold with a foamy, clingy white head. Malt nose with a touch of hop. Medium body, light sharpish carbonation. Light noble hop type flavor. Off & on it’s a bit cereal. Nice, light bitter finish. Rating to style would get 4.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
08/03 0.33 fliptop bottle. It poured golden body with medium to bigger head. Some fine lemony and honey malt aroma. Flavor is about the same, slightly acidic and bitterish lemon with honey and biscuit malt. Pretty much lagerish. Medium body with long lemony finish, bitter to sour. Quite like the other Kölsch we had today, this one might be slightly cruder. Fine, typical example of the style, nothing special.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Bier-Spezialitäten-Laden,Berlin. Poured a golden body with a small white thick head. Sweet malty, slightly polleny nose. Sweet honeyish taste, slightly fruity. Very light hop bitterness near the end. Smooth, again a lot like a regular lager. Had better.
